Martha was walking up to the castle, trying to figure out a solution to her latest problem - namely, Gwen's mysterious illness. She needed to investigate the equipment in the grotto, that much was certain. She doubted she'd find much in the way of medical imaging or diagnostic technology, but, well, just about anything would be higher-tech than what she had. The entire situation was nothing but irritating, and the fact that she hadn't heard from any of her friends in ages didn't help her mood any. (Neither did having a snappy pregnant patient - she liked Gwen, but, well, the hormones didn't half make her difficult to deal with ( ... )

Matt turned at the voice and his shoulders slumped with a heavy sigh of relief at seeing a familiar face. That didn't mean anything made sense, but a familiar face as a familiar face, even if he was already starting to wonder why the hell Natalie would have already gotten the CPS involved at this early stage of the case.

"Alesha," he greeted her with a smile. "Maybe you can shed some light onto all this for me? Where are we? Or more importantly, why weren't we brought to Edinburgh like originally planned? Unless Lothian and Borders have suddenly decided to go back to their ancestral roots."

"Alesha?" Martha shook her head. "You must have mistaken me for someone else. I'm Martha, and - well, I suppose this could be somewhere in Scotland, but it's entirely unrelated to whatever you thought you were brought here for." They really needed some sort of pamphlet to hand out to newcomers. "Basically, this entire castle is some sort of weird trap - there's probably about fifty people here - and you can't get out." She still wasn't sure what happened to the people who disappeared - and she didn't think she wanted to know.

"I know it sounds absolutely daft," she continued, "but it's the truth. There's some sort of invisible barrier keeping us all in; when you try to leave, it makes you ill, and if you try to keep going, you pass out. I don't know if it's gas or something else that does it."

Martha? What the hell? Matt found himself taken a hesitant step away from her. Kidnapping and... clones? He fought the urge to pinch himself to see if he was dreaming, but he wasn't sure even his often overthinking brain had the capabilities to invent something like this. 'Daft' didn't even begin to cut it. If this wasn't Alesha standing in front of him, then something had to be really wrong. The thing was, if it had been Alesha, he probably would have bought it but the fact she was telling him some other name just threw him even more.

He just looked at her in disbelief for a long few moments. "So, I have been kidnapped," he asked, unable to stop the accusatory edge to his tone. "What motivated this? Who is leading it? Is there a ransom?"

This place had Gaius entirely on edge. After all, it was only days ago he'd run off and possibly left Dorian to die at the hands of that wolf menacing them in the kitchen, and either that wolf was still lurking around, or Dorian was still alive and wouldn't be particularly happy to see him again.

He was almost relieved to see the Adama clone talking up ahead with an attractive woman, who looked a little confused by whatever he was saying. Which was hardly surprising - Gaius still fully believed that Kennedy was simply a brainwashed Cylon, and all his memories were fake. It only made sense that sometimes people would point out these inconsistencies to him.

"Mr. Kennedy," he said, by way of greeting, as he approached, waving at the man, and raising both eyebrows as he looked over the woman approvingly.
