Gambit had gotten the message from a woman calling herself Abby Sciuto. Although it didn't exactly sound sane, it did sound dangerous... and something he should be involved in.

It took him a while to find the grotto, and it wasn't exactly inviting when he found the entrance. He called into the darkness, half expecting it to just trigger some kine of electronic trip-wire. But he wasn't about to go in some place like that unannounced.

"Abby Sciuto?! This is Mike Gambit! Are you in there?!" he called out through hands cupped around his mouth and waited a moment for some kind of reply.

After a brief bout of sleep, Abby and Alex Drake made their way to the grotto. Damon had not yet arrived but with her friend by her side, Abby was more than ready to find where this key would lead them. Sure enough, after just a few minutes of searching, buried behind leafless winter vines, was the outline of an old door. Turning to her friend, Abby grinned.

"This is SO Secret Garden," she chirped.

Without further ado, she put the key in the lock, turned it, and opened the door. It creaked, dust falling from all edges. Abby did her best to hide her 'way creeped out' face and motioned for Alex to follow.

They were just part way down the stairs when Abby heard her own name echoing off the walls around them. For just a split second she almost thought it was a ghost! Then she heard a familiar name, one she'd heard just a short while before on her phone. Mike Gambit. Taking a deep breath after she exchanged a panicked look with Alex, she called back.

"Down here!"

Alex hadn't been particularly thrilled at Abby's suggestion to return to the grotto, but the story the other woman had told her was enough to ignite anyone's curiosity, regardless of where it would lead them. Her arms crossed, Alex tried not to let the chill of grotto seep into body, like she was, once again, being soaked in the cold memories that had brought her there the last time.

The voice that called Abby's name surprised Alex, but she recovered quickly, trying to seem not in the least bit bothered even though her skin was already crawling. She leaned close to Abby, her voice at a whisper as she looked towards the origin of the voice. "Who is that?"

What had called Loke there was nothing particular, really. It was no fantastic cassette, a calling voice, or even a mental image. No, it was a beetle. He had chased it for quite a while, and where he had gone, well, he could not remember. The big beetle was simply way too interesting. he had not even noticed that he had moved towards the grotto, and it was only as he picked up Alex's scent, he looked up, and heard the echo of voices.

He whined a bit, laying down, the beetle forgotten as he peered around with his horrible sight. It was hard to pick up sounds due to the echo, so he would have to reply on his nose. "Hello?" he called out mentally. Be was unsure if anyone heard him thought. His speech was not sound after all, it had a limited range.

"I am.. afraid, where are you? A-Alex?" he thought it was her name. He was not completely sure, to be honest He smelled others too. But he did not know them.

(ooc: im jumping in as it said open for one more. If its not Loke you want here, I can delete it and make the room for someone else ( ... )

"There are people here tending to the castle that we never seem to see but aren't the castle inhabitants. Considering this place looks like it was built as long ago as the castle was, I'd figure that it's those same people tending to the dog. Though, that kind of makes me a whole lot less willing to eat the food if I had any other choice. I don't want us to all end up caged as well ( ... )

"Just because the dog isn't symptomatic doesn't mean there isn't something wrong with it," Alex snapped beneath her breath. But, by then it was too late, and Abby had already let the creature out of the cage. Deciding it wasn't worth the argument, Alex decided just to let it go.

"I'd like to take a look at some of the other rooms, and try to get an idea of what is going on around here," Alex said. "Anyone else interested in coming along?"

Loke was all over the Sheppard in a minute, doing the traditional sniffing and moving around each other, tail wagging hard as they moved. Compared to the huge Loke, the Sheppard looked small, but it still Loke seemed to submit, his ears laid back and tail wagging low. He licked the corner of the dogs mouth, showing trust and obedience, whining a bit, but still happy.

He was all locked out to what the others were saying, and were just incredibly occupied with greeting the dog.

Damon just ignored Abby, the human could believe whatever she wanted to believe whatever she wanted to believe. If Damon gave her all the facts, then she’d know the truth about the dog and how dangerous it really was. Damon could see now, upon close look of the dog, what was keeping it alive all this time. He really wish he could meet whoever did this; he loved it.

Damon bent down and petted the dog, "hello there," he said in a calm voice. He looked the dog directly in the eyes for a moment before the dog suddenly took off and started to run away. "Oh no," Damon quickly stood up, "he’s getting away!" Damon acted all concerned until he turned away from the others, that’s when the huge grin appeared upon his face.
