And now the stakes are even higher, because it's obvious that something is very wrong in the Golden Wood as well. The Fellowship is under siege here in more ways than one, as Aragorn is not yet nearly the leader that he needs to be. Heartbreaking that Legolas thinks that Aragorn might actually give him to Haldir permanently, and heartbreaking that Frodo is now bearing a burden of guilt for these sacrifices being made on his behalf.
The only bright spot in the chapter was the thought of the Hobbits sneaking peeks around from under those blindfolds!
Wonderful chapter, Aislynn. Thank you for continuing this!

Erm... sorry! But I fear there may be a few to come, yet...

Well, this is Movieverse!Boromir, and he was that obvious at the council, too. But I have to say to his defense that he has much less clue tan Aragorn what they are actually risking, there.
I'm with him in this case. As he is now I can't see Aragorn taking the throne of Gondor. But there's a long way to go before we get to that.
To be honest, that was one of the things that blocked me for some time. However, we will see if and how Boromir comes around. As for Aragorn... at the moment, I doubt that even *he* would really think himself quite fit to take the Throne of Gondor...
Man, when Legolas finally gets free of this spell, and Mirkwood is released from bondage, I would dearly love to see him and Thranduil take Mirkwood's army and deal a little payback to their ( ... )
