I just read through all of Mael Gul in one sitting. It took me 12 hours. And I loved every minute of it!
It was torturous and sweet and hliarious and agonizing. A few grammer errors in the beginning, but much, much improved toward the end.
I can't wait to see what will happen!

Hi, ryokoyuy!

Thank you for reading and for your kind comment and all the praise. I am very glad you liked the story (and I am flattered and awed you made it through all fifty chapters in one session. Good to know the story is as captive as that). :)

All in all, your comment ade my day. It is praise like that that keeps me going. Thank you!

A few grammer errors in the beginning, but much, much improved toward the end. That, again, is high praise, because it shows how much I have learned in the last two years. I began writing the story in 2005, and while I was relatively fluent at writing English, I was not necessarily *good* at it; mostly, I was writing German using English words. Since then, and with the help of three different, very helpful, patient and absolutely wonderful betas, I have learned a lot about the language and English grammar structure, and I am glad to hear it shows. I strive to learn ( ... )

Hi, Calenharn!

Thank you for the insightful review and for the praise. I am very glad to hear you liked this chapter (and, see, the characters have finally left Moria, too!) ;)

That was an admirably clever plot point, having the attempt to free Legolas of the spell be the precipitating factor in arousing the Balrog. I find that to be much more reasonable and satisfactory than blaming it on Pippin (who could, after all, have been merely a stray, clumsy orc).Thank you! I am not sure if, in the canon version, Pippin is to blame; and equally I am not sure if, in this version, Legolas' blaming himself is completely justified, either. Either way, the Fellowship was carrying the One Ring with them, after all, and unlike during the time when Gollum had it, the Ring is awake now. Most likely, that factor would have been enough to call the Balrog forth in any case. But I think whether the blame on Legolas here is truly deserved or not is not important in this case. the important part is that Legolas *believes* it ( ... )

Wheeeee, FINALLY another chapter of Mael Ghul!!!

This chapter was a really good read - I'm looking forward to Lothlorien....can't wait.....

Oh, and I just LOVE the scene with the apppearance of the Balrog
I literally snickered at Legolas astonishment that Glordindel has fought such a creature - writing this thought was nice add ;)

Hm, must see the film again...I adored the Balrog in the film, though the scene was short =)

Greetings Eva

Hi, Eva! Thank you for the praise; I am glad you liked it! As for Lothlorien... Um, I must confess that at this point I am apprehensive to go there. But well... I will be writing those chapters anyhow... :)

Oh, and I just LOVE the scene with the appearance of the Balrog
I literally snickered at Legolas astonishment that Glorfindel has fought such a creature - writing this thought was nice add ;)Thank you! I confess that I always thought when I saw that scene in the movie that Legolas (canonwise) might have for the first time really understood what it *meant* that Glorfindel was said to having slain a Balrog - *if* he knew the legend. It is such a difference of hearing old legends of these creatures and then facing one for the first time, yourself. In my story universe, Legolas knows Glorfindel very well and respects him for the fact that the reembodied Elf once slew a Balrog. Seeing the beast for himself, in real, and realizing his mentor had ( ... )

Hi,

Great chapter! And the update was indeed very quick:).
Didn't see that coming that Legolas would blame himself, but nice.
Hopefully the next chapter will come also fast:)

Hi, Rainbow!

Thank you for the review! I am glad you are still reading!

And the update was indeed very quick:).

Um, it was indeed very quickly following your review, because you made that review the day I had got the chapter back from my beta and was about to post it; but I fear, it has been nearly four month since I posted the last chapter of this story before this latest update. And that older chapter had been five month in the making. I will try to continue a bit faster with the following few chapters, but do not get your hopes up too much. It may still take me month to finish the next installment. Sorry!

Still, if you are willing to read on nevertheless, I am glad to have you on board!

I applaude you for working on this for so long as you are. Many authors will quit after so long and hope that you do not fall into such a trap. You have done an amazing job with your writing ability and imagination that it makes me want to read it for the second time and more so later in the future. I am pretty picky at what I read, whether it's LotR, Harry Potter, or other fanfiction and you are one of the select few that I can read over and over again ( ... )

Hi, Ladyshimigami!

Wow! You have me speechless with your praise, and of course, that praise is very welcome! I am very glad to know that I write well enough to make rereading my story an enjoyable experience. There are a few all-time-favorites among the fanfic writers I read for who,m this is true, also, and it is great praise indeed that my writing can do the same for others. Thank you!

Again, I hope you don't lose your way and discontinue this like many others out there. I know many people will be really sad if that happens. I might not comment much in the future but know that I will be checking up for a post from you every day and read at moments notice. ^__^Well, while the chapters are not flowing out of me as fast anymore as they did at the start, I do have the story plotted and planned out to the very end, and I am very sure about that ending now, either. So, I do hope that I will not find myself stuck in place somewhere before that point. However, I cannot promise any fast updates. This one, although well planned, was four ( ... )
