[Kenzaki] Guard Scarab (day 19, night) (open tag)
Kenzaki waited quietly for most of the people in the complex to go to bed. He then slipped out the nearest door, intending to do a bit of guarding of his own.
He hiked into the woods, discovering a small stream nearby, maybe a smaller part of where the medical complex was getting its water. He sat down by it, contemplating what he was going to do next. Gaining the strength to do what he was going to do next.
Kenzaki hadn't ever done this, at least not more than once, and he wanted to make sure he got it right.
He concentrated, and was gratified to feel, as well as see, the belt materialize around his waist. He didn't often materialize it, not with Hajime so far away and no other Undead running about unsealed, but it was there. A mark of what he'd become.
He took the Ten of Spades card, with the sealed Scarab Undead, out of his pocket. He reminded himself that it woudn't be like Mutsuki's Remote card, the Scarab wouldn't get loose, it would just be him using its form.
Resolutely, he stood up and held the card to his waist, watching the water mirror his actions as he slid it between the halves of the green heart-shaped center of the belt. As the card vaporized out of his hand, he felt the new form flow over his body, as if he was being coated by it. It was totally unlike transforming into Blade, where suddenly the armor was *there*.
A moment later, the transformation was done. The only sign that it was him inside was the Joker's belt that was a part of him, that could only be hidden in his human guise. Tough skin now protected him, and armor on top of that. He flexed his right hand, watching in fascination as Scarab Undead's long fingers fluttered inward in response. The golden armor gleamed dully in the moonlight, and he strode back towards the clearing, every step making his borrowed form seem more and more comfortable.
Scarab Undead wouldn't win any beauty contests, but that wasn't what Kenzaki was worried about.
He found his way back to the complex, choosing the door near the cafeteria to guard. He took up position by it, standing proudly still. Nobody would get through that door without going by him, and he wasn't going to be hurt. Not by mere humans, at least.
