OOC:Sorry for the late response, been up since 3am and won't be off work until 6pm, so ... I'm a wee bit tired :)
John blinked and looked over at Aeryn as she moved away from him. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, his mind had been a million miles away and trying to go over a million things at once. "Normally I'd agree with you, babe, but seeing as how they haven't found a solution yet ... and the doctor is up to his eyeballs in working on trying to help them figure it out ... I don't think he's going to want to take a break from it to talk to us." He glanced around and shrugged, lines of worry evident around his eyes. "There's a roomful of people that'd be mighty pissed if we stopped the big problem to focus on just ours"
He turned worried blue eyes to her, "The last thing I want to do is just sit here and wait ... unless you think the two of us together can finagle a repair out of the ship we came in on ..." he shrugged again.
Rose was walking by, getting frustrated at being totally useless right now. She was setting off to see how the people not here were doing when she overheard John and Aeryn mention the Doctor's name.
"Sorry, couldn't help but overhear the last bit of you talkin. Not the most private place. I'm sure the Doctor can help you work on your ship. Jack and Rodney, too. I've seen The Doctor and Jack patch together the oddest things. And the Tardis actually has a bicycle pump as part of the controls. Don't know what he did to the inside." She shrugged. "And if the Doctor thinks McKay is smart, than he's likely one of the top brains on the planet."
"An' the Doctor knows next to nothin' about magic. He's just making sure the calculations Oona's scribbling out add up right. And he can't resist pokin' his nose in and tryin' to learn how it works anyway." Rose shrugged.
Aeryn exchanged a long look with John, her innate caution making it almost seem like a moment of telepathic communication. The unspoken comments were easier to follow though. John's look and faint shrug of the shoulders meant 'Up to you' and Aeryn's faintly angry look said 'you're a pain!' however, Aeryn turned to Rose and started to speak, her voice quiet yet still impassioned.
"We were hunting for our kidnapped child" she said, before showing Rose the singed photograph. "We had a trail and weren't far behind, when the controls on our pod siezed up. That's why we crashed here when we did. The problem is that the longer we stay here, the less chance we have of picking up on the trail, which means we may never get our baby back." With a faint growl/sigh, Aeryn crossed her arms "so if you and Jack can work with John to fix the pod, I'll do what I can to help."
John came forward and stood beside Aeryn, close enough that his shoulder was touching hers. A silent show of support, because he knew that she wouldn't appreciate him putting an arm around her. He looked at Rose with a nod, settling his hands on his hips. "Yeah, I was just about to head out to our ship, see if there's anything I can do with it. That's really our best bet for now."
