[Mayday] Soak up the sunweirdwebOctober 12 2006, 02:33:46 UTC
((OOC: Sorry, that song started playing while I was writing this.))
As she stepped into the sunlight, May suddenly realized that they were on a tropical island.
Not that she hadn't noticed that before, obviously, but this was the first time it had truly registered: sure, they were in the middle of nowhere, sure, the place was inhabited by creepy nutjobs who liked to experiment on people, but it was a tropical island.
She'd been to Florida once when she was seven, to drag her parents around Disney World, and that had been about as close to tropical as she'd ever gotten until now. The sun was warm, and it was beautiful, and she returned Ami's smile with one of her own.
She had a sheet pilfered from the laundry room tucked under her right arm, and a makeshift towel-tied bag of goodies in her hand. May was supporting Tara with her left arm. The blonde witch was moving slowly but surely; the wheelchair, they'd realized, was not made for off-roading. "I'm not picky. What spot of earth looks good to you, Tara?"

When the left the bunker and hit the sun, it was glorious. It felt like a cool salve on her burning soul. Tara closed her eyes and soaked it all in. She leaned heavily on May, knowing she didn't have the strength to both soak in the earth and walk at the same time.
"I'm not picky. What spot of earth looks good to you, Tara?"
This brought Tara out of her reverie and she opened her eyes. She saw similar looks on Ami and Rose. No, humans were not meant to be cooped up inside buildings...even though they do it to themselves every day. Tara looked around. Her magical sight was gone, and this caused her some alarm, but she was still hopeful and didn't let it show to the others. She spotted a flat place beneath a big tree that looked good. "Over there." She indicated to May. "Then you can put me down and soak up some sun yourself." Tara would need to meditate to see the full extent of the damage she did to herself. That looked as good a spot as any to do it.

They hadn’t noticed their shadow, following behind on silent feet. Not until she took the sheet from May and spun around with it, making it open and flutter around her before she placed it carefully on the ground

((OOC: *is utterly DYING at River's summation of Mayday* This response took so long because I kept having to write May's IC response and keeping my OOC laughter out of it

Tara smiled when Molly showed up. Molly had a way of making Tara feel like anything was possible, and everything was going to be ok. Even if she lost her magic, she'd always have Molly. However, even given the depth of their friendship, there was nothing that was going to stand in the way of the possibility of getting her magic back. So, she stood up taller, leaning less on May for support, and spoke her mind

Tara looked at May. "That may be true. I'd like Faith to go along, too. We'll need more than picnic provisions. How about we head back to the bunker, look for Chris, get some provisions, and head out in a few?"
