[McKay] A funny thing happened on the way to the shower... lost_mckay October 11 2006, 22:55:12 UTC
ENTER MCKAY

The day was long, certainly, but a sense of accomplishment was decidedly in place. The lab, though makeshift, was well on its way to being usable. Things were organized, great headway made in cataloging, testing, and in multiple usable piles. After today, whatever project came, or for that matter to be continued, Dr. McKay was pretty certain that either the lab was ready, or could be made to accomodate reasonably quickly.

There was a bounce in his step when Rodney emerged once again from his lab, his expression, for one of the first times for some time, rather open, his manner and mien almost, well, bouncy. A man with few worries, if only for a moment; or rather, the only real thing on his mind was that empty bathroom, for the shower. A towel was draped over his shoulder, his clean clothes in hand, and in rounding the corner himself, came upon the pair.

'Would you like to know what they're dreaming about?'Granted, Rodney didn't pick up on the rest, though it sounded like an offer of some sort, and he slowed his pace, ( ... )

The Doctor was looking for Rodney. During a conversation McKay mentioned he knew a bit about nanogines... or nanites. The Doctor thought he knew everything about them, until he came across the self replicating ones responsible for Rose's current condition. They were a mutation, and he wasn't too proud to ask for help when it came to Rose ( ... )

Isabel regarded the Doctor calmly. Ripley seemed to have a great deal of respect for this eccentric yet highly knowledgable man, and Isabel was beginning to see why.

"It's been useful before," she said. "I'll admit, sometimes I can't see anything useful. Some people don't dream about anything relevant, or if they do they don't do it in a way I recognise. But sometimes I can nudge them toward what I'm interested in. It's easier with people who know me, but..." she shrugged. "It seems worth a try to me. I've heard some of what these people have done. I'm not planning to give them screaming nightmares or anything like that."

She could, of course, but she wouldn't. Not without a very good reason. She wasn't entirely sure that these people would be susceptible to nightmares anyway.

Seeing the Doctor, Rodney stopped completely in the hall, the scowl on his face not completely disappearing, but abating just a little towards his more normal mien, that neutral frown. There was something he had to show the Timelord, but at the moment, that took a back seat to the discussion at hand.

He stepped forward now, unable to contain himself, his hand waving in gesture in the air before him. "Wait, wait... this is the same woman who was more than happy to threaten me; Who thought force fields were weird. Now she wants to help by sneaking into peoples' heads? I wouldn't trust her any more than the nurses in the other exam room. Certainly not in my head... or yours." For that one, Rodney pointed at both the Doctors present.

"Tell me. Why should we trust you? How do we know you won't do something..." Here, he brought his hand up to his head and wiggled his fingers slightly, "um...not right."

Isabel suppressed a sigh of exasperation. This little feud with McKay was going to cause a lot more trouble than it was probably worth. The man seemed to be everywhere, sticking his nose in, making nitpicking objections to things and of course flaunting his own intelligence at every opportunity.

Until he stopped doing that, Isabel realised she was going to have a very hard time liking him.

"Get one of the telepaths you do trust to watch me, if you like. The ginger-haired one knew immediately when I peeked into Claire's mind. I doubt I could slip anything past him." She held up a hand to forestall the inevitable protestations. "And I know that you're also going to immediately distrust any of my suggestions about safeguards, so you'll have to think of some yourself if you're so insistent. And what's with your obsession with my opinion of force fields? They are odd! I've had my powers all my life, I'm used to them, but I can see that they might be odd to someone else. Can't you see that people who aren't used to fiddling with advanced ( ... )
