"Okay, Dana. I'm gonna believe you, and River here since she's a supergenious and all." Jack looked at the teen who was now making faces at him before shooting him a razzberry. Way to prove a point, kid. "You were on the plane. I don't know what's happened to you for the three weeks since the crash. But if you were found and tended to... you're a very lucky woman. This island is dangerous. You most likely wouldn't believe or process half of the things I could tell you without something to back it up."
River had started to wander away a bit and was she dancing? Now? Stretches and... damn... she had legs that all the way up. She shot him an annoyed look to let him know she had 'hear' that.
"But there is a very primitive 'tribe' of people here. They tried to kidnap some of the women and children among the crash survivors, and killed one of the survivors in the process. There's also some sort of more advanced group using very sophisticated equipment who kidnapped four of the women. One of them a very close friend of mine and another a woman just about ready to give birth. Running into either of these groups would be very, very dangerous. There's also animal life on this little plot of land that doesn't belong here. Like a polar bear, which is, as I understand it, the least dangerous of the problems so far."
River was bent over the wooden hatch, doubled over the the waist and her long hair touching the ground, picking up leaves and twigs.
"Hold on." He held up a finger to Ms. Scully and called over to River, "You said it was rigged."
She gave him another 'don't be an idiot' glare. "You are such a boob. The birds flew away. She will not tempt the tiger behind the door. Little soldiers march in formation. So many tramping feet make no sound. Their armor is little protection against the big world."
Ooookay. River's good day may be coming to an end. "Right. Just remember not to... ah... tempt the tiger, alright sweetness."
She gave him a dismissive wave.
He looked back to Dana Scully and shrugged. "One of the people from out small camp, Dr. Adam Pierson, went for a little nature hike yesterday and hasn't come back. We've been tracking him, and it looks like he ran into trouble."
