It's no big deal to me as I'm part of the vast majority who almost never uses subject lines. I like the 'new' mark feature tho' as I'm in a couple communities that occasionally have 100+ comment posts and having to dig thru the comments each time to find the new ones can be tedious.
I mean, I guess I look at like this, if a feature is being used with less than 1% of the comments made maybe it doesn't need to be there. That's not saying those who use it regularly aren't going to miss the hell out of it. So really, I can see both sides of the coin.
What I'd like to see is a way to prevent DDoS attacks as that's what's going to get me to leave LJ, not loss of a supposedly underused feature.
Since the DDoS is quite possibly of the suited-russian-thugs-show-up-at-LJ-and-say-"slow-it-down" sort, I'm guessing that might not get fixed. I'm also somewhat enthused about the new mark feature. One thing I appreciate about G+ is that a new comment makes the discussion bubble up to the top of the stream. I'm *terrible* about going and finding new comments on old threads, like sometimes it takes months.
