Hmm, I don't think I would want to race there...*ever*. It sounds like they are not professional at all as far as the crew running the track. I would much rather take my chances at Buttonwillow or Thunderhill.
It wasn't the track people running it. It was the guys with the SAAC-35 group that needed a kick in the pants. They didn't act much like they wanted to be in control of the event.
As for racing the track, after about two laps and I had a feel for it, it was not nearly as intimidating as it seemed (although the Cobra was damn good at making me not have to worry about stuff out there).
It was... different for sure trying to get used to actually having to be really aware of what lines other people were taking when you're fighting for the same spot. The fact I didn't hit anyone is a pretty good trial by fire passing grade I guess.
No idea actually. Someone asked me that at the track and I never thought to look. There was so much going on to be aware of that watching my speed wasn't important. I did top out third gear in the long stretch run which tops out around 110-120, then went to fourth, so 130-140 is probably where I was for that part.
Yeah it was Infineon. I figured given the dollar value of the toys on the track guys would be better behaved. Or course it flipped the other way instead which was a bunch of rich old guys that just didn't care if they wrecked because they could fix it.
I'd still like to hit up one of the Trackmaster's sessions later this year either at Infineon or Thunderhill. They've got a date for Laguna Seca too with beginner slots, but I'm still nowhere near ready for a course like that after what Infineon showed me. I've got enough tread left on the racing tires for one more track day at least.
