The convention was arranged before either Jennifer Sheppard or Catherine Willows had a chance to check their diaries and the two found themselves deserted by their colleagues.
Jennifer Sheppard sighed as she ruffled her newly cut copper hair and let her blue eyes roam around the room. She was pretty sure this would be another meeting, which was why she’d kept to her usual gray pant-suit and white shirt, seeming sure no-one would bother to approach her. As it was she had her gun at her hip, her badge clipped to her pocket, somewhere it was never put at work.
As it was she was approached, by Catherine. She, Catherine, wore her own coppery-blonde hair loosely curled and free over her shoulders, her dress-code simple, a relatively tight shirt and black pants, her badge clipped at her hip as always, her lack of gun making her just a little edgy around others, as it was she’d spotted Jennifer from across the room, settling beside her when she noticed no-one else would or had done. “You must be the NCIS rep?”
“How did you know?” Jenny asked softly, taken aback by the softly flirting tone in the woman’s voice, feeling just a little unused to being the one approached. The woman was attractive anyway, Jenny appreciated that much comfortably, wondering if she’d be asked anything more personal, and wondering why she suddenly really wanted that to happen.
“Sat alone, with people staring and glowering?” Cath asked with a sly grin. “Gotta be NCIS, the rest of us get along just fine.” She noted the sour looks Jenny was getting and smirked a little. “They’re jealous of you right now.”
“Care to make them even more jealous?” Jenny offered, taking Ziva’s advice for once and taking a risk. She wanted to get to know this seductive beauty in peace, and she got the feeling they were unlikely to have peace with the amount of guys glaring at her and drooling over Catherine.
“Now you’re talking.” Catherine’s reply was fast and affirmative, her interest piqued effectively by the woman’s shy demeanour and slightly sassy tone, clearly she was no stranger to men being foolish around her and she was willing to take the risk of being labelled, perhaps properly.
The two exited the conference room in silence, Catherine wrapping a tightly protective arm around the other woman, leading her up to the suite.
