England's eyes widened as Kay rushed towards him, all of his battle-lust dissipating instantly. He quickly sheathed his sword, not wanting to have a naked blade out in front of the girl.

"Miss Faraday!" he said. "It's good to see you again. Er, what are you doing here?"

It had been a long time since she'd been in a serious fight. To be honest, she missed it. Oh, war was a bloody, violent, terrible thing. It tore apart families and destroyed lives. But still, the days of her youth called to her. Blood rushing, swords glinting, the break of dawn over a windswept field. Now it didn't seem so long ago...

As she approached her opponent, she noticed that he had a guest. Hungary smiled at them both. "Why, hello England. Sorry I kept you waiting." She nodded towards the girl. "Did you invite her to watch?"

"Don't worry about it, Hungary," England said, waving his hand. "I needed a few minutes to prepare, anyway."

He rubbed the back of his neck. "Hungary, this is Kay Faraday. Kay, Hungary. And no, I didn't invite her" He coughed. "As much as I enjoyed the tournaments we used to hold, sparring isn't exactly an activity I would gather an audience for anymore." What he didn't say was that he was quite wary of Hungary's abilities - she'd managed to defeat Prussia, after all, although England's always had his doubts about the supposed military strength of a country that lost to France - and had no desire to have any witnesses in case he humiliated himself. N-not that that was likely, of course - he wasn't Italy.

"Hungary and I were about to go a few rounds," he explained to Kay. He eyed the girl; she didn't seem like much of a fighter, and he didn't want her to get caught in the crossfire. "You can watch, if you want, but I suggest you stay on the sidelines, just in case."
