[ Content ] Mireille pays Ray and Silver a visit with a house-warming gift. Except, Silver isn't there. What in the world do she and Ray have to talk about?

The knock at the door startles Ray out of his current not-quite-mad cleaning binge. Yes, Mireille has seen the house before, but he feels he owes it to her to at least try to present a civilized front. He wipes his wet hands on an only slightly dryer towel and opens the door.

"I thought you weren't coming over until this evening" He's surprised, and a little off balance by her unexpected arrival. But he recovers quickly. "Please come in. I apologize I've not quite finished cleaning up, but it's probably a bit better than last time."

He gives her a half smile and ushers her inside.

As Ray steers her inside, Mireille casts a searching look around the house, only partly noting that it is decidedly cleaner than the last time she was here. A quick glance around the living room - no sight of Silver. Her smile stays in place, but she turns to Ray slowly, holding the box out. A bit too stiff, a bit too formal.

“After my more recent visit, I thought keeping up appearances should be of priority.” Her voice is back to its natural, husky range - not the lighter, younger tone the alcohol had given it. Her hair has been styled, as well. Her dress is clean. One would think she was an entirely different person.

Ray doesn't miss the stiffness or the formality. Reading people is one of the aspects of his job after all. And even without his recent... discussion with Jean Louis, it isn't that hard to figure out the cause of the sudden stiffness. But he won't mention it. Let the woman have her pride.

"There's no need to be formal here." It's said with a smile, and he accepts the box, one hand hovering above the lid. "May I?"

“Please.”

She waves a hand dismissively, letting a bit of the warmth of the room seep into her system. Although she doesn’t know him as well as Silver, Ray holds a caring personality and it makes her genuinely like him. Honest people are difficult to come across, Mireille has learned, but it is only another reason to value those few she does meet.
