I played ACII back when it was new and never got around to the others (tbh I'm not a huge fan of Ezio himself), but then I got the Ezio Trilogy for Xmas, so I've been making my way through B. I wish I visited Leo's bench more often because apparently I missed an optional conversation that made me smile when I saw it later on youtube. It was about... ah... Leonardo's feelings towards women. I'm not sure how far in the game you are or if you even got it already but if you're worried you might totally miss it like I did, here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=nuI8DdJgYLY#t=15s Don't watch what's before the 15 second mark in case it might spoiler you, but everything after it is okay.
Also you should play The Da Vinci Disappearance if you can... the DLC for Brotherhood. Sadly it doesn't come with the Trilogy (even though the DLC for ACII was included) so you'd have to buy it separately. Or just watch it on youtube. I really liked Ezio and Leonardo's interaction in it.

Have you played III? I've heard mixed things (though I'll probably end up getting it when I'm finished with these anyway).

Okay, maybe a little. Mostly at the feels part, because when my husband was playing the AC games (he's stoked for the next one, actually, and he liked playing Ezio) I took a peek at AO3 and I think 99% of the fandom there was all Ezio/Leonardo. Maybe because of the same feels you have and trying to explain that nonsense. IDK. But, maybe there's something there to take comfort in.
