So I'm playing ACII:Brotherhood

Jan 13, 2013 12:39

I played ACII back when it was new and never got around to the others (tbh I'm not a huge fan of Ezio himself), but then I got the Ezio Trilogy for Xmas, so I've been making my way through B. For the first few hours I was all, "Where the fuck is my boy Leonardo!? I need my double blades, here!" And then he finally appeared and I was stoked until ( Read more... )

I just played all those games for the first time very recently!

I wish I visited Leo's bench more often because apparently I missed an optional conversation that made me smile when I saw it later on youtube. It was about... ah... Leonardo's feelings towards women. I'm not sure how far in the game you are or if you even got it already but if you're worried you might totally miss it like I did, here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=nuI8DdJgYLY#t=15s Don't watch what's before the 15 second mark in case it might spoiler you, but everything after it is okay.

Also you should play The Da Vinci Disappearance if you can... the DLC for Brotherhood. Sadly it doesn't come with the Trilogy (even though the DLC for ACII was included) so you'd have to buy it separately. Or just watch it on youtube. I really liked Ezio and Leonardo's interaction in it.

CANON. Thanks for the link! I haven't seen that convo yet. I'd heard about the DLC, I'll definitely have to check it out (and I didn't know that the ACII DLC was on this, thanks for that too. I never did play those missing chapters because I was pissed about the release shenanigans).

Have you played III? I've heard mixed things (though I'll probably end up getting it when I'm finished with these anyway).

Yep, I beat AC3 last week! I thought it was a beautiful game and a lot of fun. And the characters are great... I've heard someone say they didn't like Connor because he didn't have a big character development shift like Altair did, and his personality is not as colorful as Ezio, but my opinion of Connor the whole game was that he was adorable. I like him. But I also liked Ezio and you say you're not a huge fan of his, so my character opinion might not be much value. But the game also has another playable ancestor (for a quarter of the game) who I enjoy more than anyone. And I think AC3 really improved on writing the antagonists. I don't even remember the antagonists in any of the other games except Brotherhood, and those guys were practically cartoon-evil. But the antagonists in AC3 are much more developed and thought-provoking and give me lots of feelings.

Yeah, I think they've done a pretty good job with character design, in so much as you can just tell by looking at each of them that they're very distinct personalities while remaining similar. I'm looking forward to Connor (and now that I have a Vita I can play as the chick, too!)

I'm not laughing at your pain. I'm not.

...

Okay, maybe a little. Mostly at the feels part, because when my husband was playing the AC games (he's stoked for the next one, actually, and he liked playing Ezio) I took a peek at AO3 and I think 99% of the fandom there was all Ezio/Leonardo. Maybe because of the same feels you have and trying to explain that nonsense. IDK. But, maybe there's something there to take comfort in.

Haha, yeah, I figured that was the case. It's just driving me a little crazy that when I was playing ACII, with Ezio and Leo hanging out all the time and being huggy and palsy I couldn't give two craps about shipping them. Now that they hardly ever see each other it's suddenly "MAH POOR BOIS ;_;~"

Stupid brain.

It's the common response of the ficcer's brain. Why did this happen? I must know! Lemme write something to fill in the blank, and of course there must be ~feels~ and ~drama~ and ~angst~ so that we can lead up to smut and the comfort. :)

What? I happen to like that progression in fic... :)

One of my buddies says the beginning is so slow he can't bring himself to slog through it. But I'm still hopeful. I kind of feel overly invested now.
