Homespun

Thanks to lisaizme for turning me on the the Crystallite hooks for Homespun. I bought the complete set. It sure made a difference using those with Homespun. I made 4 scarves for my husband's office girls over the weekend. I also splurged and bought myself a digital camera Saturday (self Christmas present) so now I can photo my STUFF.....

While I was wanting to confiscate and burn all the boucle I had also heard that homespun was a nightmare. This weekend I almost completely finished a poncho using it and it actually went like a dream. It helps if you have a good pattern for it that requires working in ch1 spaces or something. I did use aluminum hooks with it too. I'm actually pretty happy with homespun. Its very soft and very pretty but I can see how using it to make a more solid product would make anyone go sideways. Do post photos!

What are Crystallite hooks?

Actually, I don't like crystallites for things like Homespun. I found that the little seam on the hooks caught on the fuzzies in the yarn. You're not having that problem?

To solve the seam problem on the Crystallite hook, take a fine piece of sand paper (200 grit) or a fine file and sand away the seam. I did this to my hooks and it works great.

I had to do that with my bamboo hook after the cat bit into it. It was snagging my microspun left and right.
