As soon as she came in, I could tell she wasn't a regular. Everyone in the place stiffened noticeably, even Edgar. Especially Edgar. She wasn't in any sort of uniform that I could see, just a slightly edgy streetwear look, but everything about the situation felt like "cop". Short shameful confession: I've gone back through my genealogy a couple hundred years looking for names that seem suspiciously like aliases I would come up with. No ringers so far, though.

Haven't done that, but I found the black sheep of the N. family: armed robbery, arson, aggravated mopery, and all this yet younger than me!
