Mr. Raven shouldn't need to use those traditions to get kisses.

And in this place where many people don't know about that tradition it would be far more efficent to go around town with a sign that says "Free kisses for the ladies".

By having to explain it the tradition loses all its charm. And they are still more than free to reject, tradition or not. Something that's a "tradition" doesn't mean it's "mandatory".

I don't know who Rita is but I don't see why she should be bothered if Mr. Raven wants to go around kissing girls or not.
