Hey I got a little problem I could use some help with. There's this nice, little, teenage girl who's never read a book before, so I told her I'd get her one as a surprise gift. But uh, I'm drawin' up a blank. What kinda books do girls even read nowadays?

Depends on the girl! But if you're not sure, I'd look at some good novels. Fantasy, mystery, good basic stuff - no horror or scifi, you never know if she'll like that or not.

But if you read the summary on the back and think it's stupid, don't get it for her!

Oh why not horror or sci-fi? I know a lass who loves that sorta stuff!

Well you don't want to make the mistake of giving it to someone who doesn't like it, do you? I love sci fi, but I still wouldn't assume everyone does.

You've got a good point, but a mystery novel sounds like an idea! Maybe I should go about readin' the back of the books more often...

We have a large selection of young adult literature in the library. I can make several recommendations of the "best of the best" so to speak.

Go for it! I'm open to any suggestions ya think she might like!

I strongly recommend books by an American author by the name of "Stephen King". Particularly those of his "Dark Tower" series.

Can't say I've heard of an American before, that some kinda species? "Dark Tower" right, are they horror books?

That'd be my own biography!

Mr. Raven is a hot stud?

I'd sure hope so! Why, you know any hot studs she might like? She's a little young for me.

Wouldn't that depend on the girl?

I suppose so, wouldn't happen to know her would you? She looks about yer age, her name is Xion.

...yeah, she's my best friend. Well, one of them, anyway.

That's great news!!!

So ya know what she's interested in right? Just don't go tellin' her it's me buyin' a book. Like I said, it's a surprise present.

Hm... Well, I like stories with some kind of moral at the end. Fairytales and myths are popular in Nippon. Uhm... I-I personally like the tale of Kaguya-hime. It ends sadly, but it is a beautiful story nonetheless. ♥

[Oh, but now she's curious. So have a poncle tilting her head at the journal's camera.]

Who's the book for, Mister Raven?

Hey, Miyabi darlin'! It's for a little lass named Xion, she had a birthday recently and that's what she asked for as a gift~

I don't wanna give her a sad story, I'd like to give her a book that'll make her happy at the end! She seems to have a sense of humour.

Oh, is that so? I've not met anyone like that, yet, but please give her my regards as well!

Hm... Then, I suppose the story of Momotaro! That's an excellent story about courage, unity, and cleverness. It's very action-packed, too! I'm sure she'll like it. ♥

I will do, don't worry!

Momotaro? Hmm I think I've heard of that story with a similar name myself, never read it though.
