Well, think of it this way. When ya love someone, and you're with them, then it's hard ta let go of those feelin's. So it's easy ta still feel somethin' towards them when you see them years later, or after a break-up. Those feelings aren't a bad thing, they're just memories. And if ya still care about them, then it just means ya want them to be happy without you.
