yeah, I was wondering how that would read and thought of taking it out, but I just found it neat that you said that, because it's rather unlike you. I'd also totally own up to mishearing something in the loudness of that bar.

somebody asked me why I kept going back to do this and I thought that the simple answer was that it was simply a good thing to do, but there are also a hundred opportunities to do good things everyday that I pass up. Yet we all picked this specific good deed. I think it was for many of the reasons that you wrote.

... and that juxtaposition of empathy for the homeowner and their loss combined with the endorphin rush of gratifying labor is always going to be a weird one. I haven't really figured out a way to make them co-exist simultaneously. Just toggle between one and the other and remembering how the latter is in service of the former.
