I left work in the middle of a Monday afternoon, after a housebound silentq told me that there was water in our basement, that it was rising and that she needed help. The storm that had been lingering over the weekend was into its fourth day

I am so sorry, cris. These are mementos of our lives ... the lives we lead when we're not at work. Tangible evidence of relationships. It is a loss, because it was enough to have them, even if you hadn't looked at them in a while.
