At the bike shop, the Frenchman sticks out like a bulldog amidst a pack of greyhounds. Wow. Thanks for posting this. I want to know what you wear for cold weather gear, and where you got it.

No problem, here's what I use. A lot of this was pulled from reading through the Icebike site, which is generally useful for all sorts of cold-weather riding knowledge, provided by cyclists who are far harder-core than I.

Base outfit (good to ~ 25/30 degrees F)
Upper Body
Lightweight wicking base layer (Patagonia Capilene midweight, REI midweight, or if it's colder, a Duofold thermal top)
Lightweight windproof, waterproof shell layer (EMS rain jacket with side vents -- but, really, any windshell that can also keep you dry in a storm is good)

Lower Body
Thermal tights (similar fabrics to the top base layer)

Accessories
One pair of midweight knit gloves from an Army Navy store, plus one pair of fingerless cycling gloves that I normally wear in warm weather.

@ < 25 degrees Fahrenheit

Fleece legwarmers (Pearl Izumi Thermal Fleece)
