We jammed again last night with our new bassist, Jason. It was a pretty good practice I guess. He's really cool and a lot of fun to be around because he's so funny. We ran through the whole ONE song we have and then tried to write something new. We ended up writing a whole bunch of parts but nothing from beginning to finish. It's hard to write ( Read more... )

Hmmm...singer looking for band and band looking for singer... joyfulnoiz March 4 2004, 22:46:46 UTC
Need a singer a la Evanescence, Plumb, or Benjamin Gate? Those are some of my influences, and who I get compared to most often. Oh, by the way, I'm a Christian singer/songwriter. ^_^

Well we're more of a Juliana Theory/Sanctus Real/Finch sound. I know this will make me sound like a jerk, but I would really rather not have a girl singer. Nothing sexist about it, just that I know of several bands in mainstream music that the girl is the only one that gets any attention, even though the rest of the band works just as hard or harder. Just my opinion, as shared with my bandmates.

Unfortunately, that is often true for ANY lead singer, I could name dozens but I won't. Just be aware that your male singer will not necessarily be more sharing of the limelight than a female singer...it has to do with individual personality, not gender.

I'm not offended because I was only joking, but I wanted you to realize that not having a female singer will not necessarily solve your problems.

Anyway, be blessed in finding the remainder of your band, and remember to submit all of your decisions to the Lord.

Thank you for your support. I realize that this is true with any person out in front, but, in bands composed of males with a female singer, fans and the media usually do not care near as much about the males as they do the female. Evanesence, No Doubt, Avril Lavigne, Benjamin Gate, etc. My family happens to be very good friends with the Benjamin Gate and we've seen the pros and cons with this set up. Nobody's perfect, but we believe it would be easier with a male.

Your lead singer will come to ya when the time is right and not already in another band. ;) Thanks for praying with and for me the other night. That was a pleasant surprise. Have a good day and a better night!
