Doing Comic-Con with you was a blast (and, unfortunate but true, I'm actually kind of relieved that I didn't stay up until oh-dark-thirty to see X-Files on premier night, even if I did buy the ticket), and I hope we run into each other next year, as well!

LOL! on your Cap figurine ^_^ Always great when RL mimics art (or, well, something like that). BTW, thank you for being in that Live Art Jam! It was hilarious - I was there through the whole tampon thing, and his incredulity over the absorbency was just fantastic.

You got a flash drive too? Yay!! I'd been hoping you'd snag one of those. I haven't actually looked at the demo on it yet, but the drive itself is just cool. BTW, toss me the links on the T-Shirts if you get a minute, could you? I was disappointed in the lack of babydolls at CC, and am considering tacking them onto my list of potential holiday gifts for my dad (I think he just fails at my 25th birthday, but I'll admit that's still a guess).

Short version: Comic-Con FTW!!

Likewise! And yeah, you're better off not going to the X-Files movie, even if you did buy the ticket. At least you didn't lose that two hours of your life. *wry*

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Sometimes the best panels are the ones you aren't really expecting. :-)

I did! My pleading eyes and huge grin won the day at the give away. *g* Alas, although they said at the give away that hte first episode of the animated Iron Man was on it, when I actually looked at it, it was just promotional stuff for the movie. :-( But it's still awesome.

He would. *g* He's such a sweetheart in my head. But I'm really not that confident in my ability to write kids...even if I didn't have two other long stories in progress. *g*

And omg, Jiiiim! Yay, Jim! I <3 him lots.

Have you ever seen him live? *curious*

I have never seen Jim live, nope. I want to! I'm very tempted to head over that way and try out NERO, see if I can find him at game, and wait for him to go OOC so that I can go, "Okay, Mister, Bianca? A vampire? THANK YOU FOR USING MY FIRST NAME. Grr."

But no, the interviews I've seen of him on YouTube are very funny and awesome, because he's the kind of gamer geek who has his life together, and he's witty, and the witty gamer geeks I know are all having very crappy lives, so it's neat to see one that's doing well, and everything.

But yeah. Still annoyed about the Bianca thing. Srsly.

(And n'aw, Steve and Tony as kids. <3 Jock!Steve is so sweet. People would wonder if he's secretly an asshole in private, but no! He's still sweet. <3)

*laughs* I'm sure it was intentional. *grins* This is one of the advantages of having first names (legal and the day to day one I use) that are relatively uncommon. :-D

A role model for other gamer geeks, hopefully. :-) But yeah, he really does seem to have his shit sorted out very well. It's kind of sad how unusual that is in general, nevermind just with geeks.

(And n'aw, Steve and Tony as kids. <3 Jock!Steve is so sweet. People would wonder if he's secretly an asshole in private, but no! He's still sweet. <3)Hee! I'm certain everyone would think Steve was just too good to be true. Sadly, some folks might conclude, upon finding out, that being gay is his one "flaw". (I just looked up when the series is going to start airing, and it's "first ( ... )

:-( It does seriously suck, sometimes, that so much of the fannish world is so centered in the U.S. I'm pretty close, as a Canadian, and I still get frustrated sometimes.

I'm pretty sure you already are. :-D

Well I guess I'm going to the Tokyo Game Show this year, so I can't really complain too loudly ^^;

I tend to get most sad about the fact that when I find a fandom there often tend to be meetups by fans and such every so often and it's like, yes, well, I'm half a world and >AUD$3000 away, so have fun with your bad selves, heh. More people should visit Australia so I can hang out with people :<

shhhhhh

I know the feeling a little bit. There are certain parts of the States where so many fen live that they have casual fannish meetings once a month or so of around a dozen people. So. Much. Envy! I know a few fen in my city, but we don't really operate as a group. :-(

They really are worth saving up for. As much as I love the internet, it's not the same as being with fans in person. There's a different energy, and it's awesome. I put away ridiculous amounts of money every month just so that I can go to a few conventions a year. Usually four or five.

I recommend the Artemis Fowl series. They're really good kids books. Especially the first three. Teenage criminal mastermind who gets confronted by faeries. It's awesome.

Interesting! Does the criminal mastermind turn into the good guy of the books, or is he the bad guy?

Toys are the one thing I don't want to get into but sometimes it's so difficult.

I'm up to 25 Super Hero Squad and three action figures, and that's just the Marvel. *sheepish* I think I'm doing okay resisting the action figures, but the Super Hero Squad are just so damn cute. I only intended to get the first six Avengers and look what's happened now!

I don't usually end ( ... )

I'm impressed! I was planning to try and save to go to one, maybe two next year.

The criminal mastermind is Artemis Fowl and the main character. He's sort of the good guy but some of his actions (or the reasons behind some of them) are questionable. I did want to smack him once in a while but then again, so did the majority of the other characters.

I only intended to get the first six Avengers and look what's happened now!
That's exactly why I refuse to start collecting them. To be honest I do have a few transformers but I'm trying to limit myself.

I liked X-Men: Evolution
I did like that one. I also enjoyed a few others but not the majority. I agree that DC puts out much better cartoons.

If you're still looking for stuff next year and don't mind paying shipping, I could search for you.I might take you up on that offer. I guess we'll see next year. Thanks a lot for offering ( ... )

I've resisted the Super Hero Squad style transformers with much, much effort. And the slightly larger ones that actually transform. OMG, so cute! It requires more self-restraint than I should probably admit to. *g*

Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't love Watchmen. (I actually suspect a lot of people didn't like it but not that many will admit it)

I suspect you're right. It's the same thing, for me, as Tolkien. I really, really didn't like The Lord of the Rings (the book). I found it boring and slow. But admitting that to SF&F fans is like sacrilege.

Leaving aside the many other parts of your post that are very interesting (and making me want to perhaps go to Comicon one of these years, thought I'm definitely not a con-type fan); there's going to be a Sookie Stackhouse television show? I just read the first book last week, and so it's kind of exciting that there'll be a show in the near future.

Though if Comicon has panels about books being turned into television shows, the 'comic' part isn't as all-encompassing as I would have assumed.

There is! It's called True BLood (after the synthetic blood drink) and the website is here: http://www.hbo.com/events/trueblood/

Starts September 7th on HBO. :-)

It really, really isn't. There were multiple panels each for Buffy, Torchwood, Doctor Who, Stargate, Star Trek, Star Wars, various movies, and many other TV shows. It's as much a media con as a TV con these days.
