I'm so sorry to read about all the trouble you're going through with this. It is a great idea and it would be a wonderful resource. I admit I have no time to contribute, at least for now, but I love the idea of it.
I'd say hang in there for a little while and see how things go, but I suppose that not being able to contribute myself makes this suggestion a little bit hypocritical. :(
I guess my expectations with the wiki were just too high to begin with. I kind of thought that once it went live lots of people would start putting in changes. Maybe small changes, like canon details, or just occasional changes, like an ep synopsis every now and then, but I really thought the volume of people participating would drive it. So discovering that only a tiny fraction of people can participate was a blow. :-(
I'll probably leave it up for now. Heck if nothing else I can add to it myself every now and then when I'm killing time. That alone isn't enough to make it a useful resource anytime this century, though.
... am I the only person that is capable of using more than one browser at a time? :P In all seriousness, I'd hope that the sort of people that'd get excited about a Wiki would... you know, put a bit more effort in, but I'm delightfully optimistic that way.
It'll work out, though perhaps initially not as well as we'd hoped. You'll see!

Heh. This did occur to me. I've had a couple reports now of FireFox not working for people, but they don't tell what problem they actually had, so I can't tell them if they can fix it or, alternately, I can't report it to the wiki support people. *sighs*

One can hope. But I was more or less depending on a large volume of people all inputting a few things to make it go, rather than a few people inputting a lot of things. I'm not so sure that the second paradigm, which is what I've been stuck with, will work...
Honestly, I still think it's a great idea! The only reason I held off adding tidbits for a while was because I was waiting to see what the 'standard format', I'd guess you'd call it, would look like. I didn't want to post something and have it be wrong/different from everone elses. ::sheepsih grin:: I'm weird that way, I know. ;)
Anyway, I just made my first contribution a few moments ago and I fully expect to make many more. Hang in there, Nix -- it might take a bit longer than expected, but once this baby gets off the ground she'll soar to the highest heights all on her own!

But I gave a default format! Each wiki page has an "information to people wishing to add to the wiki" section that directs them to an example that I wrote out of how it's supposed to be formatted. Doing those examples was 90% of the work of getting the wiki going.
Of course, the people who have contributed (whom I worship despite this) haven't followed the example format. But as I said on the front page, that's part of my job--editing stuff to all match. *smiles*

Go you! And thanks. *smiles*
I don't know about soaring, but hopefully it'll rise from this limping pace with occasional stops to catch it's breath. *g*
It definitely is a great idea and it would be a wonderful resource. I registered a few days ago and - alas - the browsers I use are not supported (I tried Opera, Firefox and Netscape).
I'd love to help/contribute - perhaps you could tell me which browser works with the wiki or if there's another way to help.
Thank you for all your efforts - I keep my fingers crossed this will not go down! :)
Supported and unsupported browsers are listed on the homepage--and FireFox is one of them! In fact, FireFox works the best. Are you using an old version, maybe? I know when I edit with FireFox, it works just fine.
If you let me know specifically what kind of problem you're having with FireFox, I'll e-mail the support people with a bug report and see if we can get it ironed out.
*grins* No problem. It occurred to me as I was reviewing the homepage that some of the notes from the admin were the kinds of things that needed to be permanently available and maybe I'd better make an FAQ. *g*
I just installed the new FireFox version - and it's working! *squeee*
Give me a couple of weeks [snip] and I will input some information.
*hugs* Thank you! I guess a bit part of my disappointment was the instant gratification gene. *g* I wanted it to take off right away...which is kind of a silly expectation, I guess.
