[Lyn's housing situation hasn't changed for a hell of a long time, so he isn't actually as cautious as he would be almost anywhere else coming down the stairs in the morning. But he stops dead the second he sees the girl in the kitchen.
He knows that the presence of someone unexpected in the house in the morning probably means new housemate; that fact doesn't necessarily worry him. But his eyes lock, quite quickly, on the knife she's holding.
Oh, great. A potentially homicidal new housemate.]
Can you maybe put down the knife? Molly's gonna have a goddamn fit.
[Lyn gives her a skeptical look, then glances down at himself.] Oh, yeah, 'cause I look like a powerful lunatic. Knew I shouldn't've worn orange today. Seriously, do I look like I have fuck all to do with any of this? I'm stuck here, same as you.
338 Brady can you ever forgive me for missing this ;;nimblehurricaneMay 5 2011, 05:21:08 UTC
[Hm... the drone child is gone and already the atmosphere is different. Of course, when you bring a fighter into a household, things are bound to change, and this girl certainly carries herself like someone who knows how to handle a weapon.
When Legault steps into the kitchen, he does so casually, not particularly wanting to start a fight if he doesn't have to; he is wearing his swords, though, and his approach up until coming into view is silent, just out of habit. At this point he has to concentrate to not sneak.]
You look like you're used to handling larger weapons. I assume you just woke up here?
yes i will backtag forever and ever okokcrimson_flashedMay 5 2011, 13:28:11 UTC
[If he's watching her before showing himself, he'll see her stall her movement anyhow. Even if she isn't looking at him, it's almost as if she's aware that there's another presence.
She takes the kitchen knife, but makes no move towards him. She knows that if he wanted to hurt her, he could have snuck further. Her eyes do fall on his swords for an eyeblink before she looks back up again. The design is familiar.
To his words, she nods.]
Can you explain?
[Again, it's not so much that she trust him to not be involved in her abduction, than being aware that if he wanted her dead or restrained, then she would not be standing here right now speaking to him. So if he has no immediate ill intentions, she can use the chance to get information. She can't let her guard down, though; the way how that man carries himself... It reminds her of one of the princess of Rausten's escorts. ...Rennac, the rogue.]
There's not a lot to say. We've been abducted from our respective homes and been brought to this place, where our captors torment us at will and there's no viable exit in sight. Walk long enough in one direction and you'll just come back on the other side.
Or did you mean something more specific?
[He grins. Nothing he says has any kind of urgency to it; he may as well have been describing the weather for someone who hadn't yet gotten a chance to look out the window. He's also playing with her a little, testing her temperament. Her first instinct was "grab the knife," after all.]
She just quietly listens, and her demeanor doesn't seem to change much at all.]
Why, and for what purpose? [This still makes little sense. Unless they want to use her to fight for them, why take a mercenary like her? The blade was all that she lived by, there's no other use in taking someone like her. The lack of practicality is the main factor keeping her more confused than annoyed, though on the surface, she just seems bored. Alert, but bored.]
