Wow, just recently a friend of mine was saying something similar to me, about his end goal was to have enough money to not have to work. Although he was talking more in the context of living off the income from investments.

I didn't think about it in terms of slavery before. :\ I guess that links into the concept of working (slaving away) for "the man" vs starting up one's own business to be your own boss.

well, I guess that's true for those whose life purpose doesn't involve their work. I see my work (in the long run with community development stuff) as part of my larger life goals (to help people/make a difference), so it doesn't bother me so much to be working. However, I can see how we work for the money to buy what we need. Arguably though, the best things in life, like friends and family, don't require money.
