First one:

The resources challenge and development strategy forum jointly organised by the National French Academic Exchange and the Shanghai International Human Resources Exchange was held in Paris on the 12th-13th.

See, energy = capacity, resources, capabilities. Can be human as well as like nucular bombs 'n' shit.

Second one:
The majority of attendees think that the economic crisis will, for China, be a great challenge, but an even greater opportunity. (shitty english grammar but you get the point)

Not entirely accurate translation, but the thing you need to pick up is that there's a shi (= is), and a geng shi (= is even more) in parallel.

Written Chinese is so irritating because it doesn't have commas and stuff... but yah.

thank you bb! i actually need the translations to be 100% accurate (and include all the words used in the original, because my teacher is a nitpicky bastard) but i can work with those, since i at least know what the hell they're talking about now. XD

also oh my god dude what, written chinese has TONS of commas sometimes. D: earlier on i had so much trouble with this one: 对计划开展的活动,应依据“非必须、不举办” 的原则,并根据本地疫情防控实际,进行认真审核;一些病例数较多的地区,应尽可能缩小活动的数量和规模;疫情防控重点地区,今年暑期应尽可能停止学生集中活动。 it's like a GIANT run-on sentence and i was like AUGHH PFFT STOP MAN STOP.

you haven't sucked as a Chinese person until you've tried conversing in Chinese with someone and they've replied in English
