Hello, fellow Raffleites! Just a brief update on some new fun things found at the Annotated A.J. Raffles.

There's a bit about the Albany and some information behind it. Most especially helpful for fellow writers are the descriptions of the layouts and some marvelous pictures and maps to help you visualise it ( Read more... )

Well, it's an endeavour of love. Bunny loves Raffles, and I love them! Finding little treasures to share is part of the fun.

Thanks for all your hard work! I'm so glad there's a comprehensive site going up.

Something you ought to add to the audio books section: the readings at audiobooksforfree.com. These were my first-ever introduction to Raffles, and I prefer them infinitely to the Kristin Hughes (i do not care for her reading at all, TBH =/)--

Do have a listen if you've never come across them! Just pay attention that you're selecting all the 'free' options. The quality is poorer, but 'bearable' certainly.

Yes! I found it earlier in the week and bookmarked it, but haven't listened to anything but the sample so far. I agree that Kristin Hughes, although she reads the stories well, doesn't do the various accents right. Worse, she reads Raffles without any inflection, and it just sounds, well, wrong.

Thanks so much for the info about The Albany, or Albany as we should say apparently. The place fascinates me, as you can read from my post at: http://constantmuse.livejournal.com/4225.html.

I'll be back in Piccadilly next April, if not before. Just need to come up with a plausible reason to get inside and past the porters.

When I Googled "Albany Piccadilly," up came a very unexpected surprise--rooms for rent! Apparently the Albany (I think without the article sounds rather dumb) isn't as coveted as it used to be. A bonus was the realtors had PDFs of the layouts for the rooms! Sure, they've been modernised, but it helps to visualise where the action takes place.

Anyway, there might be an angle. You could go and look at the empties. ;) (Call up a realtor or look one up online, and they can arrange to let you in!)

OMG, squee! I just did the google too and found the estate agents' details, on the very plebeian 'Rightmove' website. How remarkable.

That floorplan is especially useful.

Now to find a credible excuse for a viewing!
