finally seeing Jeff Goldlum episodes

Like many viewers, I've seen far more CI episodes in syndication over the past couple of years than while it was in its prime. Lately, I'm really enjoying the later seasons that brought in Jeff Goldblum as Detective Nichols, providing a certain nerdy edge to one's notion of what a major case officer can be like. These episodes from the last season ( Read more... )

Glad you like the Goldblum EPs. I did for a while then he began to irritate me..For me it has to be Bobby Goren or nothing. The character is very much missed.

I miss Goren, and he got me hooked on the series a long time ago, although I would catch an episode only occasionally when it was still in prime time. His back story and especially his interactions with arch-nemesis Nicole Wallace were compelling, to say the least.

For me the back story of his life began to take over the show and spoilt it for me.
The EP. when he helps his nephew and goes undercover in the jail only telling Eames I could gladly throw away. It was daft.
Yes Nicole was good.

I caught a few of these eps when they first ran here in Canada and surprised myself by enjoying them as much as I did. Being a huge Goren fan and a huge Logan fan meant I wasn't exactly inclined to do so. JG eps are currently running late night on a small Toronto station and I've caught a couple that I missed first time around and enjoyed them as well. As you say, he brought a different aspect to the squad, which was fun to watch.

In my visits to Canada, I'm always taken aback that TV programming there isn't the same as in the US, although it makes perfect sense. I hope you'll find more outlets!

FYI, it's an interesting tidbit that Jeff Goldblum for awhile dated a very young guest star, Tania Raymonde, from the "Revolution" episode of Season 8.

Very, very different. The Canadian over the air stations even make extra cuts to show to put more commercials in. That's why I always try to watch US series on the originating network. With the latter seasons of L&O:CI that wasn't an option because I no longer pay for tv. Still we have lots of all the L&O's on tv free over the air here. CI is on several times every day on several different channels so no complaints on my part, honest.

That is an interesting tidbit. ;-)

when I found out Jeff/Saffron were replacing BA for season 9, he was like "the enemy" for a while... just out of loyalty (hee... Loyalty. ;)) to Gormes. when I found out he was leaving after season 9 I was so happy.
now, I hadn't been watching in season 7-8, so I didn't even give him a chance at all, in spite of the fact that I'm a fan of his in general.
But now, having seen him in Loyalty, Major Case, and a couple others I was compelled to watch because of Eames involvement, mostly, I kind of appreciate Nichols and almost (miss??) him... I mean he's still nowhere near Goren imho, but I could definitely have handled him doing the off-weeks if they were to continue the every-second-week thing (though I didn't think so at the time)! He's kinda cool! And, like I said, I'm a fan of Jeff's.
so, long story short, lately I'm enjoying the Nichols eps too :)
