I'm liking your theory about Skinner. I agree that Becker, while skeevy, isn't quite right. They'd have to do too much explaining at this point about his motive, history, etc, since we have very little information on him. Skinner, on the other hand, we have some pretty in-depth info on, though it's fractured and even subtle. Also, I keep coming back to meta clues: casting, the sudden prominence of a new character who is both integral to the investigation and has a personal relationship with Linden. I'll have to rewatch the scene where she tells him she was wrong about two killers to see how he reacts.
Yeah I mean there are three episodes left, but as the finale is a two-parter, there just doesn't seem to be enough time to deal with Becker in a way that won't seem rushed. If he had turned up at the station, pals with Reddick or some other officer or something, just hanging around, I could see it fitting together. But right now? I just don't see how they're going to pull it off.
