Dude. I knew this was gonna be off the hook right from the start, but I knew I freaking loved it once I'd read all 5000+ words and still wanted MORE MORE MORE! This turned out absolutely beautiful KC. If dialogue was ever a weakness of yours, it SO isn't anymore. I can just hear and picture all of this in my head clear as day. I really love the way you mirrored their dreams like that. The whole section about their phone conversations was really lovely. And this,

The pieces of themselves that were once missing are finally found when they are wrapped around each other, all limbs and flesh and blood and bone.

I may have actually gasped, like out loud. Such a gorgeous, poetic line. (This whole thing is really)
Youuuuuu areeee amazing!
♥!

Well thank you so much for reading it over and checking it for me. That was much appreciated. Honestly I think dialogue will always be a bit of a weak spot for me in terms of my strengths but it is definitely good to know that it's not noticeable, haha.

Thank you! I am so happy you liked this. I rarely do AU this way and so it was a bit of a leap for me. Glad it turned out well and believably. Maybe I will write more of this who knows.

Dude, I'm taking a page from Dayln to say your dialogue was fucking excellent here. Seriously. I love the way you just completely scrapped canon and had your way with this. Excellent AU. You did a really great job with this hun!

*blush* Thank you. I honestly don't even know where this idea came from so I'm glad that the complete and utter disregard of canon worked for you. Even though I tried to work in the other elements of their lives.

Thanks!

I've been dying to read this all day and it was more than worth the wait. I'm completely blown away by how seamless this feels. Hell, I think I now officially prefer Jack and Claire's story without all of the island nonsense. It feels truer somehow, cleaner---like they actually have a chance to connect and have a real relationship.

Every bit of this is brilliant: their road trip, Claire hooking up with Marc (!), Jack spending the night before his wedding playing Life with Claire. And I loved the dream mirroring! It was so beautiful and achy and it very organically set up the final act when they come together in his apartment. Gorgeous, gorgeous fic. Like gigglemonster said, I wasn't ready to see it end. <3

Thank you, thank you! I'm so happy you liked this. Definitely one of my my lengthy and "experimental" endeavors with this pairing. I actually kind of fell in love with the idea of Claire/Marc while writing it, now that you mention it haha. I'd be interested to see what others do with that idea, hehe. ;)

Like I told her, there's always a possibility that I'll write more of them. :)

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Oh my gosh, this is AMAZING. I'm kind of at a loss for words. I love it. Love, love, LOVE. I mean, I just read it about three times in a row and I could easily go for it again (probably will once I finish this comment), haha. You've got a really brilliant grasp on the characters, obviously, but it's the AU aspect of this fic that makes it so special. Everything is so fully realized, it's wonderfully engrossing and beautifully written, and the pace combined with your wonderful descriptions is absolutely spellbinding.

If I had to pick a favorite part, I'd have to say the scene with them playing Life, but honestly, it's all perfect. The way you flip between Jack and Claire's povs is so seamless that the first time I read this, I didn't even notice it. That's real talent. I want moooooore!

And oh! This whole section is pure poetry:

They spent so much time talking over the past two years, Jack’s voice on the phone as clear as her own voice in her head. Now, they have nothing to say. The pieces of themselves ( ... )

See, that just makes me wish I'd used a different word than transform in that third paragraph since I'd just used it right before, haha. I need to proofread like a dozen times before I'm satisfied.

But no, really, THANK YOU! I am so utterly flattered by your awesome praise for this fic. Truthfully I'd been pondering something like this for a few days before you made your request. We'll call it an alignment of the fates, haha.

I don't even know where the thing with them playing Life came from. That one just popped into my head, haha. Whoever controls my brain is pretty smart! ;)

I am just so glad you like this. Yay! I have done my job well.
