I was link-hopping while at work today and came across a photo album at the New York Daily News called "Tanorexia" which was pointing out the "over-tanning" of celebrities. I'm flipping through pictures and some of the choices already seem a bit strange to me. I can't stand orange white people -- it's not natural. So when I'm sitting there saying " ( Read more... )

Um...so they don't happen to think ethnicity might be a factor? That's not orange, that's probably the color of her skin with a little bronzer or something to give it that sheen.

Just. What. The. Fuck. I'd like to see the credentials of the idiot who put this together. Cause seriously.

Right? Yeah that's what Jen said about the picture they used in the article [different from the one I posted], something to make her shimmery. Cause seriously?

How does this person get paid for their job? I could do that job.

A monkey could do that job. It apparently requires little to no intelligence.

See now when I click on that link and the first picture that comes up is Snookie from the Jersey Shore it makes me think they know what they're talking about.
But then I see that picture/caption of Rihanna and it makes me think WTF!
*siggggghhh* Dumb people are dumb.

To be honest I had never seen/heard of about 50% of the people on that list anyway.

Dumb is not even the right word.

I realize black people can tan and/or burn, but it seems like here they're just calling her out for being black. Idiotic.

I'd be glad to have skin that beautiful!

They can, true. But in the photo her complexion actually looks less dark than I've seen her in the past. Either way, she's definitely not darker than what would be her natural complexion. True, she may be wearing make-up of some kind, but it's still a little bit ridiculous to expect her to be pale.

ETA: Me too!

Um...I don't think that's a tan. *shakes head*

While I'm annoyed by this journalist's ridiculousness (and the fact that she's employed when I'm not) I'm in awe of her ability to pick the absolute worst photos of celebrities she could possibly find to illustrate her point.

I'm not sure which is worse the first one with the reality star mere seconds from falling out of her dress, the girl in the football jersey who looks suspiciously like my little niece when her parents catch her off guard and demand for her to strike a pose and say cheese, or poor Jennifer Love Hewitt who looks like she might have just been raised from the dead.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that it's not either.

Hahaha, they were pretty bad. However, the Bradley Cooper one was pretty lol-tastic, I must admit.

If I see the word "Oompa Loompa" one more time, I'm going to be sick.

Honestly.

Half those tans aren't that bad. It's just the Daily News trying to pick up something to bitch about. I hear it's their favorite activity.

Right? Haha. I do think there are instances when people actually DO look like oompa loompas. But overuse it much?
