oooooo LOVE it! I love the emotional complexity of that ending. Like, she's so pleased that it was Bonden who did the deed, and she's probably exhausted and sick and in pain and scared and emotionally freaked out that she was shot, and then, on top of all of that, she has to accept that the first man she loved is dead, her husband is dead, and when someone we love dies, even if we don't love them anymore, we do lose a piece of ourselves as well. It's a pregnant moment. Love it.

Can I just say that I LOVE it when people read into my storytelling? It's fantastic because it's what I want people to do, but it doesn't happen frequently enough, or at least they don't talk about it. I'm so glad you like it!
