Amazon

As others have said, it only seems fair to Amazon that. having posted on the debacle last weekend, I should follow through.

So, i got this:

"Hello,

Thank you for contacting Amazon.com.

This is an embarrassing and ham-fisted cataloging error for a company that prides itself on offering complete selection.

It has been misreported that the issue was ( Read more... )

Your last sentence really sums up one of the main reasons why I am probably done with Amazon for good. If something is a best seller, it's a best seller. Period. If the email they sent out is not just a lie, then they do have a policy of hiding books from the public - they just misapplied it. But it's still policy and I very much disagree with it. If the email is a lie, then they don't want my business.

Yep. Amazon choosing not to stock a book? Fine, they're a private company, they have that right. But amending the results of a search, to hdie the fact that they sell certain books? Dishonest, censorious and downright wrong.

Which is bloody annoying, because they do still have the widest range of any on-line book store I've seen. But maybe if we all to Play or other choices, those choices will expand their range to serve their new clients.

They totally got hacked it is the only real explanation.

It’s is a double edge sword for them, they aren’t going to admit they got hacked because they have credit card details of how many customers, they just wouldn’t admit that they aren’t that secure.

But they aren’t admitting that they did the ‘blacklisting’ of certain titles on purpose. I know the site originally said they had a policy change on the site, but for them to then say they haven’t had any policy change less than 24hrs later in a press release… they got hacked.

And the little troll that did it will never own up accept to his buddies in the troll business because he got expactly what he wanted. A reaction. The how many thousands of people that wrote to amazon and vented in blogs and cancelled their orders. Thats what trolls live off.

Amazon got hacked for no other reason but the piss people off and get them up on their soapbox.

The SITE said they had a policy change? Where did you find that interesting snippet out? I know they were sending out that bog-standard "it's adult so it got censored" email to everyone at first then followed it up with "we don't have a NEW policy" {thereby avoiding admitting again that they HAVE a censorship policy] but I didn't hear anything about a post on-site.

Which would seem to shoot the "glitch" argument in the foot, yes.
