You're going to put them through the wringer, aren't you? Especially poor Ianto. I am looking forward to the next part - you've laid out so many intriguing hints of what's to come!
I REALLY liked this. I read it twice. Your scenario for getting Ianto to the scene where he and Jack fight the weevil was completely convincing. (I had an idea for a different scenario which I partially wrote, but yours is SO much better.) Since you're familiar with Cardiff, you can add all these nice little details that really fill out the story. I hope you're going to write the rest of Ianto Fragments, I'd really like to read that.
I know bits of Cardiff - enough to wince at times at the liberties the scriptwriters take. Mind, the novelists are worse.....
As for the rest of Fragments - well, after doing Jack's "Flirt", it's "Touch" next - so that wil take us back to Fragments again. After that, it moves closer towards "Everthing Changes" and then into the series as we know it.
Not sure how long this will go for, but we'll see.
Sneaky/obsessed Ianto is very fun. I like that he believes everything he does is worth it to save his Lisa. Rather concerned about Keith. Not that I like him, but I have a bad feeling Ianto's going to have to do something drastic that will further scar him. Looking forward to more!
obessesd? That putting it mildly! And yes, very sneaky. I have ideas springing up, borne of a combination of Fragments and one of Jack's lines from Cyberwoman...
you know, Keith was created just as a throw-away character purely to circumvent the idea of how the hell one man PHYSICALLY managed to get Lisa from London to the Hub but people seem to be getting interested in him...
of course, right now Ianto thinks anything he does do to Keith he'll have to justify to Lisa later.
thanks for reading and commenting btw. Managed to get a bit further on with the next bit today but there's a bit not cooperating....
No problem. I don't have internet at home, so I have to copy the stuff I want to read to a MS Word doc, then transfer to flash drive so I can read at home. So I read there and make comments and then post them. I should just bite the bullet and pay for internet at hom.
Anyway, good luck with the difficult bit. I know how frustrating that can be. I find lots of caffeine helps.
And you have to be careful of those throwaway characters: in my mind, Hannah and Elle both started out as throwaways. Now look at them!
only problem with Elle is whenever I see a story that mentions Estelle, I spend half a second thinking "why is faithharkness's character in someone else's fic?"
S'pose there's always the chance the retcon won't work......
and as for the internet, broadband at home is king! (and firewalls at work suck - I worked on part of this at work and tried to e-mail it home only for the firewall to stop it {going OUT] for 'lexical issues'. !!!
