Prompt Response story

Dec 23, 2009 00:41

Should point out, this is NOT part of my "First Time for Everything" series. This is my rather-late response to the Torchwood Reset prompt: http://community.livejournal.com/torchwood_reset/

Apologies for delay: got blocked BAD.

Anyway:
Title: Sins Unspoken
Pairing: J/I mentioned

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was going for. Jack's stint with the Sin Eaters was horrendously painful and I wanted to try and hit the same note. Plus, i REALLY hated the implication in CoE that Ianto was lying and the accompanying decision by lots of fans that he lied to make himself sound better. That's just not the Ianto we saw in Seaosn 1 or 2.

Thanks for reading! (I SWEAR I will message you - am up to neck in post-Christmas mess by now plus The Big Decision, so....)

that was very good ... really delved into a believable backstory for Ianto that fits with everything said and hinted at ... well done :-)

and then it also leads onto the next part of Sin Eaters where Ianto is keen on being in a hotel by the sea with Jack close by to save him from the monsters ...

thank you. You know, I didn';t even think about the last bit of the audiobook but yes - it does sort of segue into Ianto wanting a bit of protection doens't it?

and thanks again: nice to hear it makes sense from a canon point of view. Not that I'm going to bother to stay with canon for FTFE, but for this it had to feel canon-plausible.

Painful to read, but definitely a fascinating take on the character.

thank you. I think Ianto is like Jack: his 'sins' (real or perceived) haunt him. Unlike Gwen, who really (even IN The Sin Eaters) doesn't seem to think too much of any wrong she's done or caused in the past.

It was tempting to keep going and bring up Lisa but I thought that might go on a bit too long and be just a touch TOO depressing.

*sniffs* so sad, but I can so see that work

thank you. I think the audiobook played it very well with almost every character they did this to: going into their past, to those things that perhaps only THEY would see as a sin. Why Ianto wasn't 'done', I have no idea - so I thought I'd correct the oversight.

Though one of my beta's did say I seem to like torturing the poor lad.
