Torchwood...question?

Finally got around to watching the first disk of Torchwood. Now, dear Livejournal, tell me... I watched the first season of the new Doctor Who, and was horrified, and then informed that Season 2 was better. This turned out to be true. Is Torchwood like that? I feel the same way about Torchwood. It did get better. A lot better. But my memory of first season and the god awful fandom is so strong that I can't get myself excited about watching it.

Now, even though the writers took their flawed characters and put them through trials that taught them a thing or two, the reason it got better is actually because they started to focus less on the crap and more on the individual case stories, like they should have from the beginning.

I honestly don't care if it gets better. Two entire episodes of completely incompetent - not even based on their crazy alien job, mind you, I wouldn't trust these people flipping burgers - assholes being utterly sexist? No thanks. Not again.

And seriously? Let's write the bisexuals as SO sex-crazed that they will stand and watch two women make out for five minutes even though supposedly one of them is in mortal danger?

Ugh.

It doesn't get that much better, but it still somehow draws you in, if only just to see how many sexual pairings they can come up with by pulling character names out of a paper bag two at a time...
