An interesting subject for discussion...

..taken from someplace else.

US citizens, what do you think about being told who to vote for by people from/in other countries? Why?

I'm not talking about expressing opinions on who they think the US should elect, but actual celebrity doing endorsement/doing volunteer work/filming commercials for a candidate--no matter who that candidate might be.

People who are not US citizens, how would you feel if a US celebrity or personality did the same for a candidate in your country's elections? Why?

And to expand on that discussion, what about celebrity endorsements period? Do you give them any creedence? Would you vote for Obama because John Taylor or Orlando Bloom told you to? Or for John McCain because Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt think he's aces?

What makes a celebrity endorsement so meaningful? Is it merely a reflection of our media driven, celeb-worshipping culture or is it a sign of a lessened attention span in the general public--ie can't be arsed to do their own research so might as well do what so-and-so says. (it brings to mind the fall of the Roman empire and the gladiators in the ring shouting out endorsements for their favorite candidates as they drive their swords home)
