Thesis I am operating under at the moment.....

Media's depiction of Pagans as either overly negative or as overly positive is causing problems within the Pagan community.

Might be a bit too narrow, seeing as you're focusing only on the impact within the Pagan community and not the overall impact on society? Depends on what you can use as arguments though. And sources.

Media's depiction of Pagans as either overly negative or as overly positive is causing problems both within the Pagan community, and in society in general?

for the original one I have a couple points on, to argue - like ppl with vastly different expectations coming into a relatively small religion is creating chaos,
and the negative views are screwing us when Pagans lose their jobs, or get set on fire (SERIOUSLY why is that still happening in North America?)
and we're attracting psychos,
and we're getting media whores and people who don't represent Pagans publishing crap and going on TV and talking on our behalf, etc.

But are you going to be able to find sources for all of that? Good points, but sources. Evil evil sources. (I am not going to be able to find enough sources, which is why I am going to cheat and veer off in a totally different direction.)

Maybe just "causing problems for Pagans", because it's not just within the community that the problems are coming from but also from society as a whole? It just sounds like the problems are only problems within the Pagan community and not more general issues...
