I knew you were going to say that. I don't want Canada to start making it's political decisions the same way California does.

Let's put it this way: current GG does nothing. Even if he does nothing, he will at least do it more entertainingly than she does. He's Canadian, he's got a good record with charity work, he's a well-known figure, and he's good at public speaking. Works well enough for me!

I'm like 99.9% sure The Shat is actually Canadian. Did you watch the Olympics? He was one of the closing speakers on how awesome being Canadian is. Also, the position is ceremonial, isn't it? And who does ceremony like The Shat? No one, that's who!

He's got dual citizenship with the States. He lives there, works there, pays his taxes there. He may have been born here, but it seems like the US has his heart.

The position is largely ceremonial, but it does still carry some pretty big powers too. GG outranks the PM in certain instances, like if the Prime Minister wants to dissolve Parliment, or Prorogue Parliment, or declare war or anything major s/he can only do it with the GGs blessing.

Wait, WHAT?

That's retarded.
I'm sorry for using that word, but yes. It is.

I can't figure out whether that icon is pro or anti Harper.

In this context I think you are right okay to use that term.

Its actually supposed to be anti-Harper, unless I'm really gunning for the end times (which I might be).

Okie dokie. The wording was all confusing to my tiny brain.

I'm still rooting for my bb Jack Layton.
