Character Name: Aqua
Canon: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
Age: 18
Point Taken: Halfway through the Final Episode-- before she fights Terranort.

Background: [ waiting for her birth by sleep ]

Personality: [ the girl ] Having lived with Terra and Ven for much of her life, she has many of the dispositions that act as a happy medium between the former's rough and determined mannerisms and the latter's carefree and eager to please attitude. She is, for instance, quite responsible and level-headed, with an intuition that tunes into others' feelings and emotions...most of the time. Aqua is also a logical and analytical realist, and possesses a strong sense of right and wrong. These characteristics are balanced with her kind, caring nature and the sisterly affection and concern she has for her friends, especially Terra and Ven. She is unwaveringly loyal to them, as well as anyone else she places in her confidence and high esteem. And most importantly, and somewhat unfortunately, she is more than willing to give all of herself to them if they need her to.

[ the knight ] In many ways, Aqua embodies the title of 'knight' perfectly. She protects what she deems precious and important, fighting tooth and nail for it, though always through honest means and by the strength of her own person. Her journey around the various worlds has given her a very low sense of discrimination or prejudice as well. After seeing everyone and everything from princesses to fairy godmothers to aliens to talking animals, she is well-aware of the diverse peoples that exist out in the worlds beyond hers. She conducts herself in a polite and respectful way whenever she meets someone new because of this, regardless of their appearance. However, her strong sense of right and wrong often come into play when she decides who to trust. Her views can sometimes rub others the wrong way, and at times Aqua may seem too unbending or stubborn.

[ the student ] For all of these strong-headed and strong-willed personality traits, there are some parts of Aqua that are less than that. She is stubborn and fights against doubts she may have about herself or others that go against her set beliefs-- like, for example, the issue of Terra's darkness. But in her darkest moments, Aqua can be more uncertain than she lets on, and it can sometimes affect her more than she realizes. Having lived most of her life a warrior, being confronted with unfamiliar practices that are relatively normal for others also bring up an aspect of self-consciousness in her. She becomes shy, almost hesitant, and in those instances seeks approval from others as she goes through the motions, treating most of the event like a lesson instead of an adventure. In that sense, while Aqua is a strong woman and is more than capable of taking care of herself, she still has a lot of more 'training' to do before she starts learning to let go and live. Then again, she wasn't given much time to do that before a slew of hardships and hard decisions were thrust upon her.

Abilities: Aqua's abilities lie primarily in her high leveled magic spells. They vary from elemental and status effect magic to bomb spells and healing magic. Everything she is capable of is in this walkthrough guide under "Command Melding", and is labeled with an 'A'. Her Keyblade Brightcrest is the means by which she channels this magic. It is also the weapon that she uses to deliver physical blows in combat. Her combat strategy is naturally centered around her magic instead of her physical might, though it would be would be dangerous to underestimate her strength. Her agility, as well, is much better than average-- Aqua can perform cartwheels and midair dashes with ease, and incorporates acrobatics into several of her move sets.

The Keyblade also allows her several other special abilities: Shotlocks and Command Styles. Shotlocks are a lock-on ability that allow Aqua to target and attack a group of enemies. Aqua's special Shotlock is the Lightbloom, which allows her to fire blasts of magic at her targets. Command Styles are activated when Aqua uses certain magic spells or moves-- once activated, her attack and magic power are enhanced according to the spells or moves that she used to activate the Command Style. The Command Styles available to her are Spellweaver, Firestorm, Thunderbolt, Diamond Dust, Ghost Drive, Bladecharge, and Sky Climber.

With all of these abilities, Aqua is capable of a wide variety of attacks during combat, making her fighting style extremely versatile. It allows her to search for and exploit weaknesses in an enemy's attack pattern, and often gives her the upper hand when she plans tactical maneuvers. It also seems that she is capable of performing small but powerful protective spells, as evidenced by the charm she placed on Kairi's necklace which would lead the younger girl to another's light if she were ever in trouble.

Miscellaneous: Aqua's left kimono sleeve has several gray, scale like pieces attached to it-- this is Aqua's armor in it's inactive state. When she touches the pad, she is able to summon her full body armor. In this state, she is able to turn her Keyblade into her Glider, which is essentially a vehicle by which she can travel.

First Person:
--never been given a free communicator before. Surely they don't expect me to keep it. I couldn't take it when I leave anyways.

[It looks like someone is still under the impression that she can hop on her Keyglider and fly away at any time...

Judging from the background noise, she'd gotten caught in Veja's eternal rain upon her arrival-- not that she minds. The rain is a comfort to her.]

Though...I guess I'll need it for the time I'm here to get my name back. Master would have-- [She pauses, takes a deep breath for composure.]

He would have liked to learn about the magic that allows for that to happen. Having a name taken away, I mean.

[She's quiet for a moment before she speaks again, making an attempt to sound cheerful.]

Anyways, my name is Aqua. Has anyone seen a tall male with spiky brown hair? His name is Terra.

Third Person:
After she left her message, the woman formerly known as 'Aqua' sighed quietly and departed the cave she'd taken shelter in. Though it was still raining, she braved through it to head towards a large pagoda in the near distance. It was the only place nearby from what she could see, and she was drawn to it like a moth to a flame by its serene appearance and welcoming light.

Her thoughts were a jumble as she opened the front door of what appeared to be a hotel, barely managing to offer polite smiles to the surprised stares she got coming in. Once she got to a corner of the lobby, though, she sank into a seat, her expression turning weary. There was something somewhere that she needed to do here in this place, she was sure of it. Aside from searching for her name, that is. But...at the moment, she wanted nothing more than to process everything that had happened in the last two days. The ache all over her body had finally hit her hard.

"Ven..." He was sitting on that throne all by himself, in the middle of that cold castle. She closed her eyes, trying to rid herself of the pain from the memory, but the image was imprinted in her mind now, whether she liked it or not. Was that really the best she could have done for him? A castle of nothingness to keep him in for who knows how long?

No. But she was powerless to do more. And now there was an ache in her heart for that knowledge.

She should have done something. She was the only Keyblade Master of the three of them-- she should have had the power to do something, so Ven wouldn't have had to suffer...and end up like he had. But even as she thought it, she knew that there was no use thinking like that. It wasn't helping Ven, and it wasn't helping herself. A bittersweet smile went over her lips, as though she were berating herself.

"I should concentrate on looking for a way to help him. Maybe...maybe that's why I was brought here." It made enough sense. Her heart had been yearning for a way to help her friend. Maybe this strange place was its answer. And then, if she did find something...after that...she would look for Terra.

It was a plan. And it made her feel a lot better. Aqua rose from her seat, more confident than she'd been walking in. She had a new mission to see through now.
