Peter came back to the lab after talking with Nate and tried to figure out how this was going to work. He knew that he could text or call Nate’s phone if a case came up, but otherwise - it was going to interesting. He decided to wait until the end of the day to do or say anything. The rest of the day dragged along as Astrid tried to help Walter and Peter tried to run some sort of interference. He smiled as it became six in the evening, the normal time that Astrid left them to either go to the house or stay to finish whatever experiment that Walter was working on. "See you tomorrow," he said as Astrid was leaving.

"See you," Astrid said with a smile as she headed out the door.

Peter went over to Walter, who was looking into one of the microscopes. He sat down and waited. As a few minutes passed, he looked to his father. "Walter?" He asked.

"I'm always amazed at the new things that I see through this," Walter said before coming up and looking at Peter. "Where did Astroy go?"

"Astrid," Peter said.

"Yes, her," Walter said.

"She had to go home. It's pass six," Peter said. He worried that they had the same conversation when there wasn't a case to finish but he knew that was something that was going to have to wait. He didn't even want to think of Walter having some sort of Alzheimer's on top of all the other issues. "But I wanted to talk to you about something."

"I do too," Walter said. "Have you been in my files?"

Peter blinked. "What?"

"The files in my office," Walter said. "The dust was disturbed and I know I haven't gone in there anytime soon. I know there's nothing in the lab that is running around - I put out traps. But there's a file missing."

"Walter, are you sure that you didn't just misplace it?" Peter asked.

"No!" Walter said. "But I haven't been in my files since - since a while, Peter. But there is a file missing."

"Alright, what was in the file?" Peter asked.

Walter thought for a long moment. "I don't remember," he said honestly. "But that shouldn't matter. I know that it is gone."

"Okay," Peter said. "I think I know what happened to it."

"Oh? How?" Walter asked.

"A kitten told me," Peter said as he looked at Walter. "Would you be surprised to know that one of your inventions worked?"

"No," Walter said and then thought for a moment. "Well, so many of them work. So it would more depend on what invention you're talking about."

"The person to kitten ray," Peter said.

"What?" Walter asked and then got up and went over to the odd machine. "This one? It has a lot of different settings. It's more on changing the molecules of the body to go from one form to another. And I don't know if I would call it a ray."

"Whatever, Walter. What I'm saying is that it works," Peter said. "I saw the results earlier today when I went out for coffee at that place across the way."

"It does?" Walter asked and then looked at the machine. "I didn't even think that it would. That's amazing! I would love to talk to the person - well, kitten - but either way, it would be delightful."

"They're coming at midnight," Peter said. "I'll make sure that they have the file that they took from you with them."

"They're the ones that took the file?" Walter asked. "Now I'm not sure if I want them to be turned back."

"We're going to turn them back for them giving the file back," Peter explained. "I think that is a good exchange, don't you?"

"Yes," Walter said.

"Let's get some food and then come back," Peter said. "That way we don't look like we're doing something behind their backs. We can go to that pancake place you like."

"Alright," Walter said and went to get his coat.

While Walter did that, Peter dialed the number that Nate gave him. He waited for Nate to say hello before going "you're going to be bringing the file back."

"Of course," Nate said.

"Has anybody looked at the file?" Peter asked.

"No," Nate said.

"Just make sure that the file comes back with you or no deal," Peter said.

"Of course," Nate said and ended the call. He looked up at Sophie. "They found that the file was missing."

"Oh well," Sophie said. "It isn't like we're losing anything."

"True," Nate said. "I'm thinking we might need a real kitten when this is all done."

"Hardison is already looking at shelters," Sophie said. "We might be ending up with more than one."

"I don't think that we can handle anymore than three," Nate said. "And even then, I might not like it."

"You can deal with it though," Hardison said as he jumped up on the table. "Are we getting changed back?"

"Tonight at midnight," Nate said.

"Good," Eliot said after he pounced on Hardison. "I don't know if I can handle anymore of this."

"You're doing fine," Parker said in a muffled voice.

Nate looked down to see what Parker was holding in her mouth. He raised an eyebrow. "Is that a real mouse?"

"Yes!" Parker said happily. "I is a mouser!"

"No lolcat speak!" Eliot said as Hardison laughed. "This is your fault."

"Is not," Hardison said.

Nate picked up Parker by the back of her neck before opening the trash can. "Spit it out," he said and waited for Parker to do so before closing the can. "We might not be changing you back."

Parker tried to lick at Nate before laughing. "But I want to change back. This is fun and all - and I found something I can do - but I miss me. I want me back. So does Hardison."

"...I did say that, didn't I," Hardison said.

"Yep," Parker said as Nate set her down on the table. She then pounced her Hardison before Eliot joined in the rough housing.

"It is going to be a long few hours," Nate said.

Sophie just laughed before pouring Nate a drink. She kissed his cheek before leaving the kitchen to relax on the couch.
