[RL] Somehow I feel intact and reassured.

[Dexter helped his sister across the lawn, looking carefully for any lights on; for any sign of light along the suburban street. Nothing and so he followed his brother to the back door to his house. Sofia was at his apartment with the kids, and he'd sooner keep it that way. She needed another raise, he begrudgingly admitted to himself ( Read more... )

[Deb sat at the table, trying to keep from relaxing too much, because even though the aftereffects of the sedative were making her want to take another fucking nap, she had to stay alert due to a certain jackass who wasn't even ten feet away. Now that she knew he was in the same timeline as her again, she didn't want to sleep at all, never mind when he was this close by.]

Besides needing some fucking coffee? I'm fantastic, Dex--what do you think. [She probably would've answered that with less hostility and more honestly if she hadn't glanced at Brian right beforehand. And so what if coffee is bad for you after being sedated--whatever works, right.]

[Despite their tension, Brian is very calm and self-assured. His eyes are half-lidded with satisfaction, pleased with himself for a job well done. He'd promised Dexter he's get everyone out alive - everyone - and he had. Well, except for Samantha, but Dexter didn't really care about her. It was Deb that he'd meant, and Brian knew it. And he had succeeded.

He felt pretty good about his footing, now. He grabbed his water bottle and fiddled with it a little, but didn't drink, propping himself against the counter and watching them.]

The sedative should wear off pretty soon. I think they use diazepam, so you might want to hold off on the caffeine and booze until it does. Just as a suggestion.

[Dexter agreed with a slow nod, glancing between his sister and brother. He felt like he was in a sitcom where two alternate realities were colliding, and if Brian and Deb stayed in the same room with him much longer their universe as they knew it just might implode.]

So that .. was something else. [he announced to no one in particular, leaning back a bit in his chair.]

[Deb gave Brian a look that clearly said, 'no one asked for your opinion, asswipe,' but since Dexter agreed with him, there wasn't a point in pushing the issue. So instead she just picked up the water bottle in front of her tightly, pretending she was choking Brian instead of the poor defenseless inanimate object.]

That's one way to put it. Or you could say it was a fucking disaster and go with that, instead, because that's a little more accurate, don't you think.

[She unscrewed the lid, a little on the uncoordinated side, and chugged back a good portion of it, hoping that if she washed the drugs out of her system she could go get a real fucking drink.]
