The way you write Shuichi interests me. Never pegged him for a smoker, but yet again you managed to make ideas I don't usually subscribe to work. I love the blowjob, and the fact that he was trying to get Hiei's mind off his other "job" (which is also another interesting insight. With potential *g*). Adding those dark elements to Shuichi's life was brilliant.

Another thing was the comparison between their relationships, that was well handled. The interaction between Youko and Shuichi flowed well, and I seriously enjoyed reading that.

(And what lucky people to have train seats that allow you to sit Indian style. The trains here have seats so narrow one can barely fit in the first place. Not to mention I always end up with someone huge beside me *headdesk*)

It depends what sort of cart your in, I think. The ones were there is one long seat either side of the train that face eachother or the ones were are like plane seats. Alas, I have no idea what sort of trains they have in Japan other than completely full during peak hour traffic. *shrugs and sighs*

I love all the dark elements you added to Shuichi's life. Considering how you described him in "Left and Returned," I didn't expect the smoking or the side job, but I am glad he had some vices. Nobody's perfect, after all.

One thing that bothered me with this one-shot, however, was the ending. It didn't seem to tie everything together properly, unlike your others which had perfect endings. Other than that, this was yet another great sidefic!

I had planned from the beginning for Shuichi to be slightly on the same track as Youko in terms of decadence. He has thorns after all.

I'm not too pleased with the ending myself, I may alter it in time once I figure out what else is missing. Basically I just wanted to show a glimpse of Shuichi and Hiei's life and offer an explanation to Yusuke’s luck vice.

Actually, of all the fics you wrote while I was on hiatus, this was the one I was the most excited about.

Hiei as the surly gothic photographer - that was dead on. Especially: "He was so fussy." Because, in a way, Hiei is fussy. Even when he kills in canon.

The fact that Shuuichi is a prostitute floored me, but after I thought about it - in canon, Kurama is a nice guy on the outside, but he can be very dark, so this fits. For some reason though, I couldn't get it out of my mind that Karasu was the caller in the beginning, even though I knew it wasn't him.

Aaaaannnnd the blowjob. Heh. I love the push and pull between them: how Shuuichi has to act just the right way, and use his *cough* pleasurable skills to keep Hiei where he needs him. And Hiei's such a liar. Of course he cares what Shuuichi does, and Shuuichi can read him like a book - as usual.

It's so bizarre to see Youko and Shuuichi talking, just having conversation, and that's what I love about AU. *sigh* I'm so glad you wrote this.
