IT IS SO GOOD

IT IS SO AMAZINGLY AWE-INSPIRINGLY GOOD

THIS FEELING CALLED JOY

I AM SO EXACTLY THE RARELY CATERED-TO DEMOGRAPHIC THAT SHOW WAS MADE FOR, I WILL CHERISH ITS EXISTENCE FOREVER.

I know, right??? It's so--exactly obviously written for My People. Not smirking at us like it thinks we're stupid, but obviously written by people who get these kinds of geeky jokes and references and enthusiasms.

SUCH LOVE

I wonder if I have that Dr Who/Middleman crossover bookmarked? The one that I think was written by one of the actual Middlewriters?

SERIOUSLY. SERIOUSLY. I CAN'T EVEN.

*FLAILYHANDS*

It's kind of like my ~feelings~ about Scott Pilgrim (the comic) except 50 TIMES STRONGER because WENDY WATSON, KICKASS GEEKY FEMALE PROTAGONIST, and also, in addition to the geek stuff there's ART NERDS AND VEGAN/ANIMAL RIGHTS/ANTI-ESTABLISHMENT NOISE* AND adsklhsfklhaskfshffff, just. CANNOT DEAL. (ETA: in a nutshell, Wendy and Lacey are in so many ways a MY LATE TEENS/EARLY TWENTIES: LET ME SHOW U THEM that I just... *flails* NO WORDS.)

I'm kind of sad that it wasn't a direct-to-tv project, because its existence would have been even more meaningful if it hadn't been based on a comic (where, after all, Our People more frequently see representation). BUT PFFF PFFF GIFT HORSE ETC.

WENDY WATSON <3

I was never an art nerd or animal rights activist, but even so these girls are more like Real People I Have Known than quite a number of other fictional women. And I just adore how matter-of-fact Wendy is about everything, from ghosts to flying zombie pike. And that there ARE flying zombie pike. XDD

My main woe with the show is that IT WAS TOO SHORT but this is also my woe with things like Firefly. But at least there are a few comics? And they managed in that short a period of time to work in a mirrorverse episode! Amazing.

I'm sure I'd feel differently if I'd been watching it as it aired, but I'm actually pretty fine with it having so short a run. This way it can be a PERFECT, SELF-CONTAINED SINGLE-SEASON GEM, haha. <3 There weren't even any gigantic loose threads left hanging (other than the background thread of The Fate of Wendy's Dad), so there was nothing to leave me tearing my hair over lack of answers, either.

(I pretty much went STRAIGHT FOR MY BOOK PROVIDER after looking up the Middleblog yesterday and finding there's a post-tv show wrap-up comic, ASAHGDLGHDL. Ordered both it and the OG set; with luck I'll have them next week. *bites nails!!!*)
