Getting Involved

When I was growing up my mother and father were both very involved in the National Federation for the Blind. I went with them to meetings, fund raisers, and I even participated in selling things for the local chapter that they were in. It was something I just did with my family. I never realized how important getting involved was to anyone

It is so discouraging and disheartening when people discriminate. I've had a few experiences myself.

This was a fantastic entry! It's calling me to action.

I recently took a fixed-route bus here in my city, and I was impressed with the driver's ability to do things. The first helped me navigate through the transit center to the next bus, and the second walked me to the door of the building I sought. It was pretty much right at the stop, so doing so wasn't difficult. Those folks just surprised me, and I was glad to see that they would help.

I really need to find something to get into myself, even if it's volunteer work.

What the drivers did was above the job requirements. That is pretty cool.

Thanks, I don't think anything about it really. I've been blind all my life so I don't think much of it when it comes to helping others. It is frustrating at times but worth it all.
