In a Town Where Blood Ties Are Only Blood

A bit of sad news: Dale's time at rehab after his fall is almost up, but he still requires 24-hour care and the family is not prepared to have a live-in caretaker right now, so they have made the decision to find a convalescent home in which to place him for at least the time being. I've talked with Kischka and Julie about the situation, and nobody ( Read more... )

I definitely don't think it's too peculiar considering the type of service you do. When one works with/for the same people day in and day out, relationships are formed. I mean, look at my mom. There are certainly people who started out clients who are now very close friends(like Stacie and Alan) so I don't think you'd be overstepping anything to send a postcard. :)

Okay, cool. I can never tell whether I'm being friendly or coming on too strong and making people uncomfortable so I usually end up letting stuff like that pass by in silence. Which may explain why I've made exactly five friends in my time here at UCSC. XD

June? I thought you had to stay in SC through the duration of your lease?

I guess I should have specified and said "leaving Santa Cruz at the end of June," which is when our lease is up.

I don't think it's weird; I think it's sweet. I say go ahead and send a postcard when the time comes. ^^

Aw, okay then. I will! And hey, I know this is kind of really vague and maybe a silly question, but do you have any recommendations about, like, food or interesting things to find in Germany? Zoe told me to look out for Mozartkugel, but that's all I've got right now. XD

Sure! My number one recommendation is their pretzels, especially at their freshest. They are the most delicious things in the world. :9 Also, their meat is terrific. Eat their salami, it's a million times better than ours!

They also have this meal that's like cheese mixed with noodles (I think it's called spetzel or something) that is really good.

Bratwurst is excellent.

Let's see, what else... I don't know what it's called, but they have this stuff that seems like potatoes, but I think they're noodles..? I don't know, but they have this texture kind of like mochi and they're very good with meat and gravy.

Oh, and go to a few bakeries. Good stuff.

As for stuff to find, apart from castles, I guess it depends on where you're going. I have a feeling you already told me this, but where will you be again..? (Sorry!)

Pff, and now I see from your latest entry that you're going to Frankfurt...

I've never been to Frankfurt so I'm not really sure what's there, but if there are any cathedrals, large museums, picturesque towns or busy shopping areas nearby, I'd go to those. :)
