Woohoo, the wallet is back in my hot little hands, safe and sound. I guess there are worse places it could have ended up besides Bank of America, although they couldn't call me to tell me I had left it there, seeing as how I don't have an account. Anyway, this means I have a lot of time on my hands that I was expecting to have to spend canceling

How did you like White Oleander?

I really liked it a lot; the writing was very evocative. I'll definitely be checking out her other stuff in the future. I'll keep it in a safe place so a shark doesn't eat it before you come back again.
(Oh! I almost forgot to mention, a Comcast bill for July came, it's about $60 because the original $30/mo promotion ended. I'm going to go ahead and send in a check for the whole amount, but if I could get your cut of that sometime in the future that would be keen. Thanks!)

I'm glad you liked White Oleander! I haven't found an actual writing style I've loved in such a long time! Unfortunately, she's only written two other books (though she's currently working on another). One of them, her earliest one, really doesn't sound good to me, but I really liked Paint It Black. At first I didn't like it too much because of the whole Punk scene and the kind of life the main character liked to live, but despite all that, it really found a special place in my heart. I also found it to be very healing when I've had relationship or other serious life problems.

Yeah, it definitely drew me in. It actually reminded me a bit of a novel I had to read recently for a Korean-American Lit course I took last quarter, Edinburgh, it has the same sort of writing quality that is both rather dreamlike and very down-to-earth at the same time...sort of cathartic, I guess. I'll put Paint It Black on my TBR list posthaste!
Oh, also, I was a dummy and accidentally dropped your book the other day so the cover is slightly bent at the corner now. I'm really sorry, and if you're one of those folks who likes their books pristine and undamaged (like most of my books seem to turn out...), I'll totally buy you another copy. It was a silly accident and I feel really bad after you were nice enough to lend me your copy. -_-

Ha, thanks. Things seem to come out pretty even with the ups and the downs, so it could be worse.

They're pretty high-resolution if you click on the picture to enlarge, and even bigger if you click "Full Size: 3456x2304" that's in the corner of the enlarged picture.
Some were taken by me, some by Mike. Hope you like!
